EAS software and cables.

Storey Wilson generously provides the P38 EAS suite free. It ****es me off that so many people are profiting from his generosity by selling the software on CD and also selling cables at what I consider to be high prices.
If anyone on Landyzone (and only Landyzone) is interested, I'm prepared to provide the EAS suite burnt onto a CD, plus a cable, at cost (no labour)which I reckon will come out at about £12 for the lot plus P&P. Can't get lower for small quantities and I'm not prepared to gamble on ordering OBDII connectors in hundreds.
It would take a couple of weeks for OBDII connectors to arrive, if anyone is interested PM me and I will tot up the numbers
Update, following a posting by Woogoo, I will put my Idiots Guide to replacing airbags on the CD.

I will also be making a donation to Storey Wilson's development fund for each cable/CD sold of around £1 minimum.

I have recomended people to contact you for cables a few times, but I think £17 is a bit rich as is £25 for cable plus CD on Ebay especially as it is free software. OBDII connectors in small quantities are £4.50 or less, 9 pin D connectors with shells less than £2, cable £1 total £7.50. 10 minutes labour? how much??

Ya bought a p38- parting with cash should be part of the course Mine is a distant memory thankfully

I bought off ebay and got a poor quality cable/obd plug and old software. I have downloaded the more up to date software, but might be interested in replacing the cable.

If you want a decent quality cable, PM me - we aint the cheapest, but the quality beats everyone else out there. You get what you pay for, sometimes. Ask SandyT or Dougdotcom what they thought of the quality of our stuff.

Really hacks me off when people on e-bay plagerise other peoples work or start charging for free software. On the forum for my other cars we give the workshop & parts manuals away free to members and diagnostic software is also free, forum also provides the cables at cost in the same way Datatek is offering.

PM sent to get on the list as I would rather pay a forum member for the kit than some muppet on E-bay

Regardless of who provides the cable and connectors the quality of the work in making them is also very important. It's all very well having quality parts but if the soldering is naff then it's a bit of a moot point.

What would be useful to include on any CD would be a step by step guide on how to test and repair the air suspension (maybe using Flash animations). You know what I mean a logical flow chart starting with a leak test, then branching off with corrective steps through the testing phase. Photos as well and a step by step guide to the dissassembly / re-assembly of the compressor and valve blocks, air bag and air line replacement etc.

Having diagnostic software is great but knowing what to do with the diagnosis is even better.

Great idea, wish I knew enough to get the best out of the gear I've got, let alone produce a cd as stated by woogoo. I would be happy to pay for that without the cable and software (I already have)

I already offer a free guide with photo's to replacing airbags, the RSW site gives plenty of other information as does rangerovers.net Flash animations and the rest on a CD are not a lot of good when you are up to your neck in grease and ****, a printed page that can be re-printed is much more useful in my opinion.
A lot of people do not know how to solder or do downloads, all I aim to do is bypass those problems at minimal cost, the rest can be found by refering to the sites above and of course to the many threads on Landyzone. I'm not into wiping peoples arses for them

If yu want crap connectors etc. yu get what you pay for with connectors and cable. Not all the quality is visible (thickness of Gold plating....) Dont forget the dreaded VAT has just gone up - and carriage too.
All of our stuff is (has to be) ROHS compliant & tested. I am not getting into a slagging match with you Datatek.
You arent running a business, which does include overheads. I am happy to help peeps (and - yes, make a small margin).
I have never said we are the cheapest - just the best value.

Hey, don't take my posting the wrong way, I am not having a dig at your or anyone's ability.

I am aware that there are plenty of resources on the Net for the EAS but that's kind of the point. They are on the Net and not available in a single location.

If you give it some thought how easy would it be to follow a process (flash, HTML, printed or whatever) that guided you on a question and answer basis in order to diagnose (and maybe even fix) your EAS (or any other problems).

I think it is a good idea, and if you don't then that's your opinion.

Perhaps you should donate some of your time and skills into producing a CD with the resources you think useful. I neither have the time nor the expertise with Windows to do it.
You have though prompted me to put my airbag replacement guide on the CD.
