Hi, Have bought myself a nice DRL / FoG Light aftermarket kit. All seems good and understandable, even dare I say easy to instal. But one thing I’m stuck on, not being an electrician. Which wire at the headlight connector is the side light positive feed. I need to tap onto, so as drl goes out when side and headlights go on. Any help I’d really be grateful for. Cheers Jeff

Hi again, well fitting the drl kit is proving a test! Can’t seem to find a fuse to piggy back that only powers up when ignition pressed. Also getting a wire through the firewall to passenger fuse block doesn’t look straight forward either.... Any suggestions guys???

Why not consider a DRL controller, I’ve be using one for the last 3 years plus, the better ones include a wiring loom with plugs and fuse and it has inputs to dim or extinguish the DLR when side or head lamps are on ... if u wish, I couldn’t be bothered with that, and all the wiring is contained in the engine bay.
Link below showing a typical DRL control kit.

Thanks for response discool, would have responded sooner, but been super busy. I understand what your saying and when I clicked on link and saw harness, it seems you still need a switched 12v source for the blue wire??
Now of the opinion I’ll have to get one wire through bulkhead to fuse box behind glove box .......

Hi gstuart,
Will definitely check sensor connector out tomorrow, will be perfect place if it is too. My led drl and fog light kit is a very nice kit from garagefiftynine who advertise on eBay. Only issue I have is this switched 12v source ..
Thanks for suggestion will report back ....
Cheers

The picture shows the sensor connector just above the horn in front of radiator behind front grill. Very easy access to a switched 12v supply. I’ve highlighted the actual wire with blue tape.
Thanks so much to gstuart for his info ....invaluable to me.
Will get on an fit my led drls now!!!

Hi, Well yesterday I set too and fitted my DRL/FOG light kit. Can’t believe how easy it was. Used the switched live as pictured earlier (id by blue tape in photo). Then yellow wire was connected to red with black trace wire on nearside (UK)headlight socket, switching drl off when side/headlight selected, or indeed auto activated. The fog lights themselves fitted with just a little adjustment to holder, had to cut a little plastic on both sides of each fitting so fog light fitted snugly.
Will photograph the layout and connections when I solder them, as they are temp fixed to ensure they’re correct.
Looks a treat, and it really was easier than I expected.
Thank you to all who helped with advice and knowledge.
Cheers jeffv

A few photos of wiring and finished article. The first shows the drl lit. The second the connection to a 12v switched supply, just needed to cover online fuse from weather, used insulation tape.Third is the yellow wire connecting to the headlight power supply which activates the drl off when side or headlight chosen. Very pleased with outcome. Thanks for all the help folks.
