HI.
Have changed the disco and bought myself a Freelander, I need to get hold of a Dog guard and boot liner to stop the inside getting wrecked by the dogs.
Can anyone recommend cheap places to get both?
Would prefer genuine dog guard.
And are they easy to fit?
Cheers in advance.

On another note heard loads of bad things about freelander and almost everyone told me not to get one, BUT so far love it.
Theres time yet though.:D

I got the 1.8 Xei softback. Its on 69,000 miles and ging well i check the water and oil religiously and both spot on at mo.
MNainly went for this as found it at right price and the colour i wanted with the privacy glass and side steps.
I will eventually change my avatar to the new one when i actually stop driving it for a minute to take a pic!:D

If you do a Google search or Ebay search for "Freelander dog guard" you will find loads of options.

"OEM" dog guards are made by the original equipment manufacturer but without the Land Rover badge. Genuine Parts" dog guards are dark grey whereas the OEM version is black. They are the same piece.

Cheers for that. Have managed to source a boot mat now and im watching about five gdog guards on ebay at mo.
Also tempted by the cup holder on ebay for the dashboard.

Sad i know.

While im on i need to change the gear oil and i have seen that mad hat man posted about texaco brand being the correct oil.
Is there any alternatives to this. Mines the manual gearbox on 1.8 petrol.
Cheers

Andy, just for info, fittin the dog guard is a piece of p*ss. Job description as follows: 1) fold rear seats forward. 2) undo rear tie downs(d shaped jobbies) in boot floor. 3) make small slit in carpet to take bracket that you're about to do number 4) to. 4) fit brackets under d rings and re-bolt em into the boot floor. 5) fit slots in doggie guard over the loops that the seat catches catch onto. 6) put seats back upright. 7):D total time 30 mins. The sheet of paper with the doggiejobby tells it a lot better in halfords speak, but thats the jist of it.....:p

i fitted a gen landrover dog guard in my fl and it will not keep my jack russ at bay so unless you have a big dog dont get one

Yep, the gaps are big enough for a ratter to get thru, but then again one could get up the average boy racers add-on zorst pipe..If you've got a fat old lab or similar, you'll be ok..:D

Cheers for the advice on fitting, i have a border collie so should be ok.
I think im going to get a new gen one form the local landranger shop as its only £78 and by the time i have manged to get one on ebay and pay P+P it pretty much always works out more.

Any idea's on that gear oil?

A chap called Steve was advertising genuine parts on Fleebay but he also works in parts at W.W.Webber Land Rover in Basingstoke so I've just bought Genuine Side Steps, rubber mats plus boot mat, main dog guard as well as the back window dog guard from all for £400. I saved on postage as I collected from the dealer.

Fitted everything Monday evening apart from the rear window guard (side steps were good fun without using a jack!)....The Weim puppy threw up on the rubber mat Tuesday....good timing really!

Cheers
