Does anyone on here use their freelander to tow horses and are they strong enough?

All im saying is that wiv 2 hosses u need stability of a long wheel base & low centre of G.

I wouldn't want to tow two horses with anything as small and lightweight as a freebie.. forget the engine power and the brking power but when a caravan takes a seide wind past a truck on the motorway it will pull anything lighter than a discovery across a lane or two no problems at all.. I can't imagine what would happen if the caravan had a couple of enormous animals in it that panicked at the same time but I guess it wouldn't end well for anyone..

Bearing in mind the towing capacity of the freelander isn't the mam of the average twin horsebox too much for it. I'd have thought the 3500kg capacity of defenders and discos would be more like what was required.

I've seen the end result of a well made and maintained two-horse box overturning on the motorway. Towcar was a Disco 3 as it happens. Very sobering thought and part of the reason why we have a 3.5t horse box in make at the moment.

All in all, I think the Freelander is a suitable tow car for a single horse for occasional (say monthly) short (<hour) trips, but for anything larger/longer/more frequent you would be wiser to consider a Discovery.
