Ok so i've just ordered a set of HD steering arms, they ended up being the terrafirma solid ones, with greasable ends.

anyway, after looking through various catalogues etc, i think it was the bearmach catalogue that said you can do away with the steering damper if you fit our arms, as the heavy arms "take the stress of the ball joints"

im not quite sure what they mean by that, but i can see that heavier arms might not need an extra damper because of their weight...

just that then i dont have to get into buying/making a relocation bracket, i can just ditch the damper :)

ideas please!

cheers, sam.

Try it!!

So much depends on the rest of the vehicle as so much affects the steering. If yours is OK then not having a damper shouldn't hurt too much, but if there's anything amiss the damper generally compensates. Hence why so many change the damper at the first sign of steering wobble. Probably doesn't cure the fault, but masks the symptoms .. :)

yeah, i uprated to a terrafirma damper and it did improve my wobble.

i cured it by balancing the wheels :D

anyway, i'll see how i get on without it i think, after all, its only a damper.

the RTC dampers i have only ever seen in defender fitment.

nice though :D

If you go offroading a steering damper might in some circumstances prevent you from breaking your thumb, you should try have one. Only my opinion though :)

yeah, understood mate.

the hd bars come with a damper bracket, and i can make a relocate plate fairly easily - i guess i should run one...

thanks all :)
