Hi all
I have a leak due to corrosion from the power steering pipes on a Freelander 2, (not sure which of the three it is as I didn't do the diagnosis) so I have therefore bought the three main parts needed, namely, LR001099, LR029185 and LR026229 from Maltings who tell me they are push-fit together pipes, but my local 4x4 specialist is telling me: 'I need to find someone who can crimp them together' either that or I need a special tool to join them, (apparently). Maltings seem to think there is no such tool and it is not needed.

So, basically Maltings are telling me one thing (push-fit) and an LR specialist is telling me something completely different.

These are original new LR parts that cost me a lot of money, not repro parts, so can someone out there shed some light on this please?

Thanks
Adam

All the pipe connectors are push fit, so no tools need for assembly, other than normal hand tools. It sounds like they're not familiar with the system, so can't possibly do the job correctly.

The Freelander 2 has some operations (in addition to the connectors) which are vital to the correct repair of the PS system.

Find somewhere else, as these push fit connectors have been used on PS, fuel and AC systems for at least 2 decades. If they can't get a connector correct, how can they be trusted to carry out the job to LR's specifications.

Hi Adam.
I presume these are the parts you are referring to below.
LR001099

LR029185.

LR026229

Power steering fluid which is green by the way.

At the same time change the reservoir there is a filter in it that can not be changed so a new reservoir is needed.

As above take your car somewhere else whom knows what they are doing.

Is your FL2 leaking at the bottom which 99.9% of the time is where the power steering leaks due to corrosion.

I cut the pipe to help remove it, due to the torx being stuck with corrosion.

Hope the photos help.

Thanks very much to Nodge 68 and Arctic 2 for great help - it sounds like these are indeed push-fit and no special tool is required.
