I thought I would share my experience of changing the diff, transfer box and gearbox oils.

62k miles showing so I decided to buy Difflock Evo 1 for the gearbox on my manual diesel and Evo 2 for the transfer box and diffs.

£113 for 6 litres of Evo 2 and 3 litres of Evo1, so not cheap.

The job is easy enough to do, it's just the constant crawling under the car. A syringe was also essential.

Results are that gear changes are much smoother throughout the gears, and also not notchy when cold like before, a big improvement.

As for the diffs and transfer box, well not sure I can feel any difference, but these were changed for longevity and service purposes.

for administering oil in dodgy locations, get a pop bottle, the cheaper ones work better cos they are thinner. cut/melt a hole in the lid, measure a suitable length of pipe and hot glue/epoxy it in so it nearly touches the bottom. fill with fluid then squeeze. also helps to have a second small hole to allow air in but put your finger over it when squeezing!

Which size of pop bottle do you recommend? 500ml or the larger 2L?

Doing all mine and replacing oil cooler and pipes which is a bit leaky some time soon.

Ahh thanks, like the pics and bonus is a get to drink 2l of coke before starting.

Just need to find some plastic tubing now, think I'll be raiding the old mans home brewing kit.

I used a Draper 500ml syringe. It worked really well, but did need to be refilled a few times.

The 2l bottle certainly looks very inventive and effective.
