Hi All I am still stuck in Coalville with a dead 1999 P38 Diesel.
Doug looked at my Becm today (many thanks ) and confimed the becm is ok.
The car was re synced but still will not start.
Fuel is getting to the fuel injection pump but not to the injectors.
I have a current Immobiliser link fault which cannot be cleared.
Any help please or a truck back to Portsmouth.

If you have an immobiliser fault then that is what is stopping the fuel getting to the injectors because the the fuel shut off valve on the FIP will not be opening.
Either you have to find the immobiliser fault or you could try hot wiring the shut off valve on the FIP. Can't offer any other suggestions.

Thanks, Just what I am thinking unless the fuel pump has had a mechanical internal fail.Any clues to the immobiliser wiring please or the pump wiring, cannot fathom it out on rave

The stop sloenoid on the pump wont make any difference - its only a back up on EDC. What was used to do the resynch between the BECM and the EDC ecu ? Testbook gives an option to check ELAB,if it says on or yes it should fire up.No and it will never start.

This may be a silly question, but if the stop solenoid valve is only a back to the EDC, how is the engine stopped? It is after all a mechanical injection system with electronic control. I thought the stop solenoid did the stopping and therefore if it did not operate it would also prevent starting:confused:

Not a silly question, from memory the stop sol will open at key 2 even when the EDC ecu is not synched. The fuel quantity solenoid actuator has total control from zero to max fuel, its just electronic control of an old VE pump - the rest is just the same,or very similar.
It still sounds like its just not synched properly,if it hasnt had the rf upgrade, I'd unplug the rf receiver before trying the resynch again.

Hi thanks for the feedback.
The RF Receiver is the old type and now has the blue wire pulled. This will be changed ASAP.
I agree with the thought on the immobilsier. Doug.com is coming over again tomorrow to look at the Becm with his BBS Faultmate.
How do I check the immobiliser link?

Im going back over again tomorow and taking the Becm out and direct wireing to the Cpu so i can check any problems stored or locked out, I should have done this today but its a 2hr Job start to finish, Dont like to see Dean stuck on his holls. :)

Cheers Irish.
I have had a diesel fitter look at it last night who also spoke to his brother who does breakdown recovery and has some VP37 fuel pump experience.
If the fuel pump was the culprit then you can get it to run on easy start and that should be enough cranking speed to get it going.
We have tried this although it does begin to fire it will not run. So still looks like it is immobilised.
