Anyone on here had success with carrying out a window regulator re-thread/re-string.
I've had to replace the central locking actuator on the drivers door and on reinstalling the regulator managed somehow to de-thread the regulator.
Spent the last hour, of what should be a minor job, trying to work out HOW to get the cable around all the pulleys and connected to the glass latches.
The threading is simple .. just not enough slack. So easy to come off ... so f%#@ hard to get back on!!
I need to get about 1cm more of slack to get it on .. but there is none and I can't see how to gain any.
The only thing left is to remove the motor assy to gain a little bit .. but that will probably open up a whole new world of trouble with a bunch of gears or something falling out.

Some pictures may help but I have done ones on a citroen.
they ARE fecking tight. The one I did had slots near where you need to use a screwdriver as a lever to pull bits together to connect them up.
See if you can see anything like it!
But then I did have the mechanism out and on a table.

I got a repair kit which came with new springs. I struggled like feck to fit it.
the second window I had to do, (I have repaired both rear windows on her Pluriel, the break each time was a stupid placky bit that bruk). I went back to the repair kit and used the other one. There are two on each wire. But this time I didn't replace the springs. It is working fine.
It helps if you can compress the springs and wire them compressed. Then once fitted cut the retianing wires.
But I may be talking outa my ass never having seen the mechanism on a D4.
Isn't it in RAVE?
