Hi, I currently own a freelander mk1 station wagon 1998 and yesterday my tailgate window didn't want to close. I removed everything and found out that the cable snapped, but the motor is still working fine. Since the motor is still working I was looking to buy a Regulator without the motor as it is less expensive, but the ones without the motor doesn't look like the ones I removed from the car. The brackets holding the mirror looks different. would this be a problem if the brackets dont look the same? first photo are exactly like the ones I removed from the car. second photo are the ones im finding without a motor.

Thanks

I appreciate your reply, but I'm afraid that I won't do a good job . I don't mind paying a bit extra for the full kit without the motor

Go on....you can do it !!

But to answer your original question the alternative glass mounts will work but anything other than an original will not have a hole to support the heated rear window cable and the window glass could be damaged if the connectors break off. That is why I recable the old one.

If you use a non LR part then cable tie the heated rear window loom to the bracket that holds the glass to reduce the strain on the glass.

Don't even consider doing just the cable!

A 1 hour job to change the regulator may turn in to a 2 week job to replace the wire, before you then buy the full regulator and complete it in an hour.
