How cheap ?

Anything from free downwards :D

Dunno really, not got many options and need to get something that works. Refurbs start at about £120 which I've not got spare so need 2nd hand but buying used from folk you don't know is like asking for a beating......and giving them a stick to do it with

We'll keep our ears open ...

depends on what you need it for, chromebooks, netbooks, tablets, lappies, etc

I'm basically puter illiterate  but pretty basic stuff I'm guessing.

Just browsing really, something that'll run 3 or 4 tabs without having a fit so I can moderate and edit lzir map etc.

Other than that email, and run memorymap. Magic moving pictures like iplayer and youtube would be a luxury that I haven't had for ages.

Is 512mb up to the job?

My connection is a dongle if that makes any difference

Can Fanny find you a cheap one

There are often good deals on Ebay and with buyer protection it's not much of a risk.
Look for one with XP and avoid Vista. Win 7 is OK but slower than XP and needs a lot more memory, 1gig minimum.

Int no good if I gotta get a blurdy car anorl :p

Apart from that it looks like a possibility

Avoid the eeepc 7 inch as they are dogs, I have a eeepc1001ha which is 3 years plus old and had massive use still on original battery, hard drive failed so it has 1 tb drive now

I have just dug out my old xp laptop as my desktop broke. Did a factory reset to wipe the hard disc and am now having trouble getting the service packs and updates as it has ie6 installed on it from the reset and it can't read most websites now. Baws!
