I have a freelander td4 2003 im getting a bit of oil in the air intake to intercooler and it smoke when first started in a morning till warm but then there no smoke the rest of the day I'm concerned as I'm worried the turbo will just go on me as I'm away at moment how long will the turbo last with these symptoms hope you can advise me on this ian
 
I'm getting lots of oil on me suspension and steering from me L Series. The WOF (MOT) inspector has just pinged me for it, grrr.

I don't know an awful lot about the TD4, but I think its pretty normal to see a bit of oil in those pipes.

Pretty sure I've also seen though that injectors can leak into the cylinders when the car is not in use (eg overnight). Presumably this would cause smoke on first start up. Pretty sure I've also seen that this can burn out pistons. Someone with more knowledge of the TD4 might shoot me down or add more info.

Normally the oil comes from the breather circuit, not the turbo. When was the PCV filter last changed? It's a good idea to clean the PCV valve at the same time as the filter is changed.
