Its a certificate of "road safety standards required by law"

But again, I stress, I have never and would never drive a vehicle without one, so no law was broken........

Unfortunately it is only worth the paper it is written on until you drive away. I think you will find that there is a disclaimer which basically says "components are put under significant stress during an MOT test and may fail immediately afterwards"

Then that would be my argument to the authorities, it cuts both ways....

Now what the HELL has any of this got to do with my posting that I was having all this work done on my Discovery?? Bugger all, you all just wanted to vent a little and thought I would lie back and take it......

Your MOT certificate confirms that your vehicle, at the time of its test, (as far as can be reasonably determined without dismantling) met the minimum acceptable environmental and road safety standards required by law. It doesn't mean that the vehicle is roadworthy for the life of the certificate and isn't a substitute for regular maintenance.

Well done, you can cut and paste as well.......

well i am glad that it is all sorted now. i didnt think i would ever get to the end.

....... but somehow i still get the impression that if in the future he has a accident that's caused by lack of maintenance he's going to be pointing fingers of blame at his "mechanic" or the MOT man

ah well

"The MOT scheme is primarily a road safety measure designed to ensure as far as possible that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old:

1. Are properly maintained

2. At least once a year are examined at an authorised MOT test station to make sure that they comply with certain important requirements of the law"

And??????

Quieten me down? Wind yer neck in a bit and you will see that its you lot that need to quieten down................ jeez!

i guess when yer landys fails and is caused in a major accident and vosa exzamine it and find major faults on it which contributed to a accident .............. i wonder hwo will loose there licence and get locked up .......... im sure your mechanic wont get involved in that

did you read that properly then !!!

so i guess bald tyres and bad brakes and bad suspension dont class as regular maintaince then

Firstly, if I am going to discuss with you, you know, without the histrionics, can you please try and learn English, I'm a bloody immigrant and I type better than you, its a capital I for you........

Now, to the point, tyres may well be, but how do I know that a shock has gone? The truck has ALWAYS wallowed, its always felt like a boat, so how do I know its not supposed to be that way, its the first Discovery I have ever owned. Bad brakes, well, lets look at that for a second. The discs were warped I'm told, now, is that supposed to happen? Is that normal for a car? Because as I said, I have had 3 cars in the last 12 years and it only happened to the Disco...... and I'm told excessive heat is one of the causes, now if thats the case then maybe thats why the Discovery isn't exactly the most popular 4x4 in my homeland, because if Landrover think this is hot in the UK they know bugger all about heat.

Again, lets leave off with all the crap about.... IF YOU KILLED SOMEONE WITH A LETHAL VEHICLE............... YOU DROVE A DEATH TRAP.......... YOU COULD HAVE KILLED A KID, because the second I found out that there were problems, I sorted it..... I didn't keep driving it, didn't ignore the problems, just gave it to the mechanic and HE is sorting it...... JOB DONE!

Yep, thats what's happened! My lovely Disco has failed its MOT big style!

All four shocks, trackrod, bushes all round, read brake discs, 5 advisories, including the headlights, ALL four shocks, one wasn't even bloody attached FFS! Passenger door couldn't be opened, front tyres thread, yet bizarrely, the one thing I was dreading, the emissions, it passed, and quite how I will never know because it is like a steam train for the first half an our every morning! Unreal!

Its going to be ready on Tuesday and I am going to be over a grand poorer, but I still can't wait to get her back and feel what she rides like with shocks that actually work!

3 pages on - and I am still at a loss as to know what you wanted by posting this.
Are you trying to say that your Motor failed the MOT? - big deal!
by lots? - big deal!
That you have been ripped off by garages? - Surprise!
that you know nothing about mechanics? and!?

so why are you taking it to another garage? To be ripped off again? You admit that he can run rings around you, like the last one did. Surely the lesson here is that you cannot trust garages and that you should gain a minimum competence in basic mechanics - enough to recognise a bald tyre and the knocking of a shot shock absorber?

now - if you had come on here saying " I know nothing about mechanics and have been ripped off by yet another garage - can you guys help?" The response would have been totally different - you might even have a couple of guys at your place by now helping you sort it!
I think that you have now, by your persistant arrogance, blown any chance of assistance.
