Problem ere is an MOT is not a certificate of road worthyness.
Its a certificate of "road safety standards required by law"
But again, I stress, I have never and would never drive a vehicle without one, so no law was broken........
Unfortunately it is only worth the paper it is written on until you drive away. I think you will find that there is a disclaimer which basically says "components are put under significant stress during an MOT test and may fail immediately afterwards"
bend over doggy dog dog...:d:d![]()
Your MOT certificate confirms that your vehicle, at the time of its test, (as far as can be reasonably determined without dismantling) met the minimum acceptable environmental and road safety standards required by law. It doesn't mean that the vehicle is roadworthy for the life of the certificate and isn't a substitute for regular maintenance.
well i am glad that it is all sorted now. i didnt think i would ever get to the end.
....... but somehow i still get the impression that if in the future he has a accident that's caused by lack of maintenance he's going to be pointing fingers of blame at his "mechanic" or the MOT man
ah well
"The MOT scheme is primarily a road safety measure designed to ensure as far as possible that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old:have a read ere !!

Yep, thats what's happened! My lovely Disco has failed its MOT big style!
All four shocks, trackrod, bushes all round, read brake discs, 5 advisories, including the headlights, ALL four shocks, one wasn't even bloody attached FFS! Passenger door couldn't be opened, front tyres thread, yet bizarrely, the one thing I was dreading, the emissions, it passed, and quite how I will never know because it is like a steam train for the first half an our every morning! Unreal!
Its going to be ready on Tuesday and I am going to be over a grand poorer, but I still can't wait to get her back and feel what she rides like with shocks that actually work!
