aint got the cash to go buy adjustable cam timing set..so ideas on how to make one?
so far..get crank sprocket machined/filed out(hard work but free!lol)to move woodruff key position...do this after first install once cam timing checked, then work out how far to move woodruff key slot...abit like pro ones but only one extra slot.?????

ANYONE got one?ie crank sprocket with extra wood ruff slots..(will be marked up 2 4 6 etc..and willing to draw around it...(can use as template then)

or...offset woodruff key???(weaker though)

Used to use offset Woodruff keys on Minis, they were ok even at 7500 rpm:)

yes I got one, check my timing and lifter pre-load and its yours to copy lol, I also have a rollmaster one thats used , will check 2moz if its got multislots- again come check my work and u can have it

vernier sprocket set is 180...add that too 280 cam new tappets at 150+ adjustable pushrods at 180.....getting the idea...

i do...!!!!!!!

my above post kinda says why!!stupid money just to dial in a cam for extra 20hp...

but i wish to use steptonic gearbox, and that means using the donna engine and ecu to run the zf ecu...so stuffed..

your not making your own slot in crank sprocket ?

Ok so I see your point!

Well personally I think the best most reliable method is to cut and/or perhaps weld the woodruff key into the sprocket at the desired position.

Easy, simple and no weaker than original position.

it looks like i will be yes...done some research on prices and i was very wrong at 100...so own slot is the plan..
though i was also looking into making vernia cam sprocket outa 2 cam sprockets..i have done this on motorbike cam sprockets to good effect..
cheapest is own key way in crank sprocket though..prehaps the easiest too..and yes strongest

i have a new crank sprocket..i will try cutting new keyway in that first..if it works well then job done..if not then plan b..cam sprocket modding..

ahh..but this 4.6..dont have keyway(as such)..only way t mod it is cutting around center and using another to join the 2 cut havles together, drilled tapped into the center bit, drilled tapped AND SLOTTED into the outer part..IF YOU get my drift here..
