does any one have any eggspearenese in dosh investment.. i've just been handed a wad and would like to get a good return on it...

any ideas willing accepted except the old " i'll take it orf yer hands fer you"

capital growth and fer abart a year maybe more but a year to start wiff. and ah dunt care if its shares or under the mattress just so long as i get as much interest as possible

i know yu mite think this is daft - speshly as yu sed investment - but have yu considered that maybe a good investment mite be to pay for sumone to get yo place sorted and make life a bit easier fu yu? I know its not munny in de bank - but quality of life counts too. It wud mean yu cud use it fur an income sooner than yu anticipated.

zero risk?
alliance and leicesters "direct saver" account is the best at the moment. pays a whopping 5.8%. instant access and no funny rules. minimum £5000.

but put the first 3k into a mini cash isa. max 3000 per annum. (no tax see!)

after that its more risk but poss better return. property or shares.
my tip? sainsburys. theyll be sold off soon. MS poss buyers?

check out sites like motley fool for really good free info.

ps,
my mate bought a terraced house in salford a few months ago for 42k. hes not finished it yet, new kitchen/bathroom/lecky/carpets/paint etc... and hes been offered 80k for it!

(he dont intend to spend more than 10k on it and already has a tenant waiting at £400 per month.)

Having lived in Salford for a year, he must be a pretty brave chap

Good investment al the same - has he installed an electric remote control drawbridge/portcullis and filled the moat with alligators ;)

must admit hes braver than me.
but the house is in a nice little cul de sac. so it wasnt too scary.

Actually, Salford wasn't the worst place I lived in as a student, Beresford Road in Longsight takes some beating. I'll never forget the dawn raid on the house across the way - the guy had held up at gunpoint every RBS branch in S. Manchester - lovely neighbours

when i came back oop north some 8 yrs ago, i could have bought an ex council flat for 500 quid!
also i was offered a row of 8 houses for 40k! i declined cause the area was really shyte.
same street houses, are now up for sale at approx 80k each!!! ffs.
