Hello All

Hope you are all keeping well, I last owned a Freelander about 2009, I have since run an XTrail which has proven to be a very reliable car. She is getting a bit long in the tooth now. I am off this afternoon to look at a 2.2d Freelander 2 Auto. I am not terribly mechanically minded so I am after a few hints and tips on what to look out for. The vehicle has done 73000 on an 07 plate.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave. I think the biggest issues you could have on the earlier FL2 are steering problems and rear diff bearings. Make sure the steering is nice and smooth with no strange noises, and you should be able the rear whining if there is a problem. Other than that make sure everything works. I've had mine a year now and no problems. The dealer sorted the rear diff before I picked it up.

Not the tambora one at Stratstone is it? :D Dunc has covered the main issue found, but be on the lookout for generic noises which can be on any car, like groaning/grinding around corners (potential bearings), or suspension knocks etc
