bobtail discovery

my mate has a pretty sound 3dr 300 disco..he really wanted a def 90 but jus couldnt get one for the money he had.heas already got the bug and done the usual tyres,removing steps bumpers etc.hes asked about bobtailng it.is it a massive job?..what can he expect to pay to have it carried out.anyone got any pics of before and after if theyve done it?..i have done a search on here but couldnt find much,any help please would be good ta

It'll cost him a fortune to have it done at a garage. The job it'self is a fairly simple one if the person doing it can weld.

Wouldn't the extra dosh the insurance company will want be better spent on a 90

The labour rate is very fair, given the current climate.
His welding guy is Polish, but can he ever weld!!!
Some of the best welding I've seen and he's gaining quite a reputation for it locally.

is there much of an increase on the insurance..he does know someone who is a welder its just the ehere do you cut and put it back together thats the worrying bit.

really... where would the dog go? I could afford to lose a couplea seets cos that's just for the wife and kids but there's important stuff in the boot like beer....

The chaps name is Clinton Trump and he very kindly took the time out for me to meet him at his premises a couple of weeks ago.
I had a good look at what he designs and creates.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a bloody good welderiser though

Bob tailing is what i want to do to my disco, but ive been put off my the fact that there is an inconsitancy between other forums by the fact that some say it needs an sva others say that it needs to be inspected by vosa.
I was wondering if someone could enlighten me about the whole process?

it does need an inspection as you are making a massive change to the vehicle chassis
