Discovery 2 EKA and re-code

Hi all,

Had some issues with the disco yesterday. Went out to a nearby city, did what we had to go, then went to get in the car and couldn't access it via the central locking key fob. Had this issue before but pressed the inertia switch button in the engine bay and all way fine.
Now...

Today as from above, did the steps I did before, pressed the button and nothing.. alarm kicking off, hazards etc. Couldnt even bypass. I managed to get the EKA code from landrover, entered that, it worked untill I went to start it. A man called Charley pulled up in a disco 2 asked if I was ok and jumped straight in. He got his diagnostic machine (hawk eye) and deleted some codes and found the inertia switch had been deactivated.. he bypassed it, did some other bits and it started! Great stuff, but had to dive 20mins with the hazards going crazy. Parked up at home, tried the key again to see if the car starts again and it did.. but I have no access with that key fob central locking now. Does the key need recoding? Can it be done without diagnostic machine, or is there a sequence you need to follow for the key to marry up with the car?

Any advice would be great!

Hi, some strange things are happening there cos the inertia switch has absolutely nothing to do with the alarm/immobiliser it disables the fuel pump and the central locking and triggers the hazards once tripped. If the pins in the plug are bridged it should be OK. You can't do anything with the fob without a proper diagnostc tool. You should replace the RF receiver which is in front of the rear sunroof as it's plug and play maybe you are lucky to be that cos it's quite common or ask the guy with hawkeye to run a RF test or to disable the alarm/immobiiser completely and pray to not be a BCU issue
