Aint I clever LOL

Never, ever in my 15 years of using the internet and forums have I come across a forum thats so negative towards new members.

But the tip (and thats all I wanted) towards searching for TD4 BMW engine did the trick.

So thank you.

That first one doesn't have the acoustic cover on
second one has a later cover

Was wondering why you would want a pic of one?

Are you looking to buy and want to know what you are looking at under the bonnet?

Nope already purchased one for the wife and just trying to find out if its a BMW based engine or a crappy head gasget problem engine thats all.

Anyway, looked at the engine just now and its the same as this one below:

Which I hope is the good engine.

That's what I was going to say, both engines are the same and in the same car. Mine is a MY01 with the full acoustic cover (which I remove through the whole year, just put it on for the yearly mot so that they can't see too much:D), the other one is a later MY.. with the small cover, but as said both are M47 engine and both in an Hippo.

Thank god for that, thought I was going mad.

Happy its the BMW engine.

Anything I should watch out for?

Make or be sure the engine breather filter was changed recently (VIP=very important piece), and for the rest do the proper maintenance of the car.

Well you would find out very quickly because the BMW TD4 engine is a DIESEL
whereas,
The crappy head gasket problem engine(s) is PETROL as in the K series 4cyl 1.8litre and the KV6 2.5litre

What did it say in the advert, on the V5 etc and what did you insure it as?

V5 says Diesel and its insured as a diesel ok.

I was not sure if it was related to the diesel or petrol engine and now both questions in my mind have been answered simply in this thread so a big thank you.

I did have a idea and was told that the engine was a BMW but I just wanted it clarified.

Again thanks.

PS,

Its going in next month for a full service so I know its done and my minds at rest and I presume the filter will be changed as part of said service.

Regards

PS,

Here's the car:

Nope

It's only on the BMW bulletin.

The BMW dealers sell a nifty replacement that is more like a Dyson than the filter that gets clogged up
Doubt you will get a LR dealer to fit that or even own up to knowing about it.

This is the BMW filter. BMW item nummer 11127799224

The LR dealer will not replace the original LR part for this one. I did it, because of the advice given on this forum and others.
