Simply put.

Surprised they get such vitriolic comments.

From whom ? From people who "heard" something about Freelanders being sh.. as having problems with their head gaskets. They, most of the time, never have had one, never have driven one even never have sat in one, just of hearing saying...... They don't know the evolution of the engines and still think as if only the 1.8 K engine exists (with the KV6 as sparring partner....) for the FL. Once there was an article in the press overhere of a guy who made a public statement that the FL was no good at all as he ruined the vcu after over 100.000 kms, he forgot to mention that he ruined it because he put new tires in the front where the book says to always put them in the back or change all four. But as it appeared (through a mate/journalist he knew) in the newspaper the people's opinion was poisened and the reputation was made.

comes from a long list of auto/manual boxes - Manumatic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Excellent article on Wiki.

Do you know if the LR system has any fuzzy logic learning capability? I'm guessing not.

I used to take the relevant fuse out of my Chrysler every weekend as the auto box had learned my Granny mode driving stop start round the M25 during the week, and it made one hell of a difference. Drive it for 5 mins like you stole it and boy did it shift.

I think the real proof is whether or not you are happy with it, goes for any car. I'm making the allowance for the detractors on here not really being serious.

I like mine, am happy with it so it must be good.

My TD4 is about number 60 on my list of cars to date, cost wise its about number 40, smile wise number 15.

:D

Surely not:eek::D There is also the fact that most freelander drivers are easily baited;):D

Yes tis probably true.

But not me. I'm the most unfaithful tart with cars. But until I do succumb to the charms of a tidy wheelarch, I'll stick with what I find to be the most reminiscent Montego Estate (number 14 on me smile list) and enjoy me Freelander/Gaylander/fake LR/etc.

And stick around here.

Besides, me opponents seem to have retired.

:)

Personally I have more important things to do like 1uz-fe 34p 22p 16p 28p 175200-05050 with immobiliser

I like mine too, to drive even better than my previous car which was an 190E 2.0l petrol, did over 200.000 kms with it, just hope that the Hippo is as reliable as that Merc. was. Keep fingers crossed (hard to type but with enough "backspace button" use I'll manage:D:D).

Mmm, pride you have much, but darkness in you I see. To the Landie council must you go and my Jedi brethren meet. Hmm?

PS

Obi Wan Freelander with you, wants a word!

Pride leads to envy, envy leads to sorrow, sorrow leads to jealousy- forever you will follow the path of inferiority and insecurity, of second rate being your life shall be, a shadow of true reality, until the acceptance you strive for shall be granted, when futility is fully embraced and you learn to shut the **** up;):D:D

A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.

A Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, you PLUM! :D
