auto td4 too much drive !

Has anyone had a auto that if d or r is selected at idle the engine stalls , but if revs used it takes off OK , if rather rapidly ?

It is if the Torque converter is in lock from start , if such a thing is possible?

Have yet to try diagnostic , but what failure mode can the lock up solenoid suffer ?

it can happen if lock up clutch plates warp ,that would show as black oil
