Atf change in a disco 2 auto box

Is it worth changing the ATF in a disco2 auto box and if it is it best to remove the sump and change the filter

No its guaranteed for life.

Remove the sump anyway, cuts down on weight and improves mpg.

i would if not de done in a long while ,need 27 torx bit for filter ,refill and check level while engine running in neutral

The ATF should be changed at every B service under JLR guidelines. So that's every 24 months or 24k miles.

As for the filter, that is dependent on what you decide based on the road test, customer comment and ATF condition once drained.

Like James says, probably worth doing if high miles and no evidence of a recent change.
