Well, my much cared for FL1 is holding together rather well (tempting fate here) and remains me fav vehicle of all time. Not a huge prob this (obviously can turn radio up) but over decent pot holes etc quite a loud squeak from (seems like) offside rear door. When open the hinges do seem to have a couple of mm play at the door edge up and down movement. Is this likeley to be the cause and if so what cure? Thanks.

Well, if you are sure the door is the problem then it would seem that replacing the hinges are in order as the first exercise. Sounds like it would be worth doing even if it is not the cause of your squeek.

Thanks Damien, yes i agree makes sense to replace hinges. Is does sound as though it is coming from the door. I've read about worn chassis mounts and wonder what this sounds like. Its easy to get a bit paranoid reading the threads. Tx.

Look for the simple things first. There is a story on here somewhere where a guy pulled his car to bits to find an annoying tap, spent hours trying to trace it, stack loads of cash on replacing parts and no joy, it still tapped. Then, in desperation, he asked someone else, who is a forum member, to have a look. Fault found in five minutes. The aerial was flapping on the roof!

Moral, think of obvious or simple things first before thinking the wheels are going to fall off. It might be the doors but I doubt its the wheels. :)
