Hello All,
Well after a fruitless search of the top bearing manufacturers (koyo, FAG, SKF etc) for a suitable replacement front timing cover bearing I had to settle on a "Universal Bearing Company" Chinese water pump bearing. I have the part number if anyone wants it. Most of the quality manufacturers list bearings that could be modified but although listed non are in stock. Anyhow much that I would have liked to have fitted a Ball/Roller bearing as per the original SKF I have had to settle on a Ball/Ball bearing. Anyway the good news is that the bearing cost $32AUD or about 12pounds:D:D:D. Below are some photos of job. I will be happy if the bearing survives until I can source a better quality replacement. Having said that the bearing (now installed) is very smooth to rotate.
Photos below;
1 - Original bearing beside Chinese replacement
2 - Machining soft shaft to size
3 - Aluminium tool to push bearing into housing
4 - Support tube
5 - Pressing bearing into front timing cover
6 - Job done
Thats all for now. Hope this info will help someone out.
Regards
John W.

Hiya John, all I can say is WOW !!!!

That piece of work looks pretty impressive to me. Now, if I could just borrow your press, milling machine, skill, experience, know-how etc then I wouldn't ever need to buy another Disco - EVER !!!!

Well done mate - good post

Cheers
Dave
