Also have removed all the tappets, well nearly all of them, one has to come out once the camshaft is out

So on with the pictures!

Wasn't too much hassle to get all that lot off. In the first picture with my finger pointing at the timing chain is it at rest. The next one is me pushing against it and there is the same amount of play each side. Definitely seen better days!

And last picture is of one of the tappets, most have a concave (is that the right word? Sounds right but probably isn't!) face that's a random pulled from the lot. I think there was one or two that looked worse.

Tomorrow evening's plans! Get the camshaft and that remaining tappet out then turn the engine over and start on the bottom end. Unless ive missed anything? :D

The wear on the tappets is normal so is the chain slack. I must say that under your timing cover is quite a bit more black than mine! Also... whats that wire coming out of the vacuum mech on the dizy?

Indeed fett!

But of course being a serp it doesn't have a dongle at all right?

Early ones had fixed drive, late type had wobbly drive, then did serp have no drive at all??

lol, thats true-but I didnt know it was a serp lol

in that case the amps on the car body not the dizzy and the wires go to it via that plug

its to stop the heating problem
