hell I am more than v belted I have the old type dongeless dizzy too, on both engines lol.

Hell I am only months later than them having rope seals tbh

Evening all.

Finally some progress with the motor. Nothing really that exciting but its progress


Started cleaning the top end although ill admit its taking a lot longer than i thought

Anyways pictures










Just need to give it another coat after a go over with some 1600 wet and dry then take back the raised parts and polish back to bare ally.

Next job clean heads then send em off to get em checked.

Looks very nice mate! The cleaning does take soooo long, I think that was the worst bit of the entire rebuild!

My dishwasher doesn't like washing car parts, she don't like getting her nails dirty

ha ha lol

btw mate this is how they went on the stand bracket, used 110mm bolts and I think they were 3/8 unc or some freakin odd archaic size

Do you have to use heat proof paint on the plenum and inlet and rocker cover ?

Nice what paints best to use gonna paint mine this weekend

Anything really, enamel is best or use a basecoat with a quality 2pack lacquer.

I used aerosol basecoat and lacquer from Halfords for the rocker covers and it is fine but it has crazed on the sump because of the heat.

So yeah I short, something like japlac enamel is great or 2pack lacquer over a base coat unless you are lazy

toolstation sell engine lacquer and thats what I went for with leyland blue tractor enamel for the sump
