As far as I know Xado produces oils and additives for engines and transmisissions. I do not know much about it but I have red some positive feedbacks on the internet and also a car mechanic proposed it. So I have tried it. And it seems at the moment, that together with the previous oil change, it helped. I do not know if it will be long or short term, I will see....
 
I plan to flush the transmission fluid in next month. I would require a new filter and seals.
What do people say about aftermarket filters? shall I take one of them because it costs few pounds? or shall I only take the original one which costs a lot?

Hi Sandu, here are my answers to your questions :

1. Land Rover don't make filters of any kind, they buy them in, so buying 'after-market filters' is not a problem;
2. When you buy an autobox filter kit it should come with filter, O-rings and the sump seal.

When you say that you plan to "flush the transmission", do you really mean flush it or do you mean empty it and re-fill, as they are two different things ?

I know this, but the supplier is important to me, as I am focused on quality first. I have to choose now, genuine LR for £50 or aftermarket Bearmach for £3

empty and re-fill, 2 times.

also, I have another question. my transmission is leaking a little between transmission housing and engine. I will have the transferbox removed in 2 weeks, so I will be able to remove the transmission too and replace the leaking seal.
are the RTC5102 and RTC5103 required parts to change in case of this leaking?
 
Often this is caused by the rear engine crankshaft seal being worn out, it then permits oil to leak out of the engine and into the bellhousing and so it looks like the autobox is leaking.
 
I agree, this might be too, but, anyway, the transmission needs to be unmounted to replace that seal.
I ordered it also, because I wanted to do all these things one time.

also, I would prefer to change the HD flex plate which I have in my garage since last year.

I don't want to have it broken in forest or in mountains, so I would change it now for the heavy duty version.
I've been told by a mechanic, that the bolts holding it are not reusable, is that correct?
 
I'd not buy extra cheap no name aftermarkets, nor so called "OEM" which are unbranded... if you dont want to spend on genuine which is the best but quite expensive at least get a branded one, search for Vaico V48-0179 which is reliable brand, any decent shop would bring you that on order , you can search also 1043226037

just the first time, they are cleanable they are a mesh screen,the fluid is very detergent, so they will clean themselves in clean fluid
 
You can start the engine and change gears for about 30 seconds with sump plug removed...this way more fluid will be drained... and why would you wait 1-2 weeks, change the fluid, go for a 30 minutes run as the box to heat up and go through all gears more times then change again and fit the new filter, job done... this trick worked well for all my friends with autos.
 
My auto box is removed from car for seals replacement, I bet there will be oil only inside of Torque converter...
I might think also about changing the flexlate now with Ashcroft’s HD, once the gearbox is out.
If so, I might end up with only 1 change?
