    Replacement of Heater Matrix

Hi Clutch dust. I am about to replace my heater matrix, but in the haynes manual, it says that to remove the dash facia, you have to remove the steering wheel. Is this true? Does anone have a step by step discription of the work invoved in replacing the heater matrix? Thanks,

    Trying to diagnose coolant problem

I had a similar problem, and it turned out that the vent pipe clips ( to the radiator and cylinder head from the expansion tank) were so flimsey that under pressure it seeped the coolant out at the connection. Now your problem could be that or any other clip, as these clips do lose their...

So Cashybai, how hot is an acceptable hot on the rear diff. Say after a journy of 20 miles, should it be warm, say 40degrees, or more like 80 degrees?

    Groaning,vibrating noise :-(

Hi ZX12arrgh, Yes these are the babys. But get the real deal ones. You should get a good 20/30 K out of them. Also get the front bush of the rear diff checked. They are cheap but fiddly to change. Also look at that IRD mount that Tinytdi speaks about. I have heard it is a problem area too I

    Groaning,vibrating noise :-(

Hi ZX12arrgh, I had a similar problem and it was the two support bearings on the drive shafts. ( One on either side of the VCU) I changed them and the groaning / Vibration went. I also changed the front supprt bush on the rear diff, and aht a diffrence to the car. If you do go and get new...

    1.8 K Series Cooling System

I just redid the whole of my cooling system on my 1.8. I had a similar problem. So decided for the sake of trying to prove everybody wrong, i fitted the PRT kit ( Also known as the remote thermostate,)a new header tank and cap and a new radiator i got on ebay (Nissens radiator). I changed all...

    Rear door interior plastic.

Very easy to do and does not effect the window mec. I guess you are talking about the Boot interior trim. I would just get a good secondhand one from a breakers yard. Try Jon Daunter on 01291 626212 in chepstow. I would not paint it as it would just scrape off and look worse. Just prise the trim...

    wind deflectors

I fitted a set of 4 on my 5 door. TEAM HEKO ones and they are the business. Really the best. I got them from some German Guy on ebay and they are the clip on type. The front ones just slide in with no clips and the rear ones have two concealed clips each. Really impresed with the quality & fit too.

To take the undertray off is easy 10 bolts and 2 screws. Really easy. Make sure you have a filter wrench- Not expensive, and a new copper washer for the sum plug, filter and oil. Always smear a bit of oil on the rubber sealing ring on the filter prior to filling up. hand tight and then one more...

    Side steps

Hi i fitted a set of the real LR ones and it was easy to do. Does help if you have the right tools. Be carefull with cheap aftermarket ones. I would go for the Real LR ones, and to finish them off nicely get the front mudflaps too, and maybe the rear ones. Part of the fitting is to place...

84 K Service booked in for this Fri

Not sure, And quite frankly as long as you put in the specified oil (You should find this in the handbook) then it should be fine. LR say to change the oil every 12 K, but i do it every 5 K myself and never had a problem in that department. All oil has a certain amount of cleaning agents in them...

    oil type help

I think it is important to change the oil every 5000 miles, as this will ensure that your engine stays well lubed. Check the level every week to make sure its not burning excessive amounts.whilst your there do the coolant too! On average its acceptable to burn 0.5 litre every 5000 miles, any...

84 K Service booked in for this Fri

I think oil is oil. If they charge more for their oil than the one you want, then go with the one you want & make sure they give you back the remainder in the bottle. Also a little advice on screenwash, quite a few main dealers love to charge stupid money to top up your screenwash. Some Main...

    Two leaks

IF you firstly try and find out weather it is a water based fluid or an oil based fluid. this will narrow things down. Did you try smell the liquid? Gearbox oil has a distictive smell.

    Newbee with a ?? .... car mp3 (freelander 98)

You can get a new clock from a breakers or EBAY. really easy to fit. Just get the one without the radio stations. As for head unit. What ever you feel comfortable using as some are pretty complex. I would suggest if you have an MP3, get one that lets you plug in straight away. As for speakers...

    1.8 petrol thermostat

Just make sure you use the the LR blanking plate and seal, as its not quite a blanking plate, it does have to let the water through and is very cheap. should be part of the kit. MY advice is that as you will be emptying the coolant either way when you do the change over, WAIT till you get the...

    Newbee with a ?? .... car mp3 (freelander 98)

When you go to buy, bring the old unit down so to compare two things. Firstly the size (They should all be more or less the same size as it is an industry norm) Secondly, You would have disconnected three things at the back (Thats if you had the normal clock and 4 if you had the one that...
