    Aghh! Emissions fail '97 P38

Thanks for you replies chaps. If I change the Lambda sensors, will I need to have the adaptives reset to see any improvement? I ask as I obviously can't drive the car to let it 'learn' the new settings? Next question - cheapest way to reset the adaptives? LR seem to charge a fortune. and...

    Aghh! Emissions fail '97 P38

Afternoon all, I'm trying to put my 1997 P38 Range Rover back on the road after, what is really two years off the road. It was MOTd last year but has only covered a few hundred miles since then. Anyway, took it for an MOT today. A couple of advisories on: Steering lock not engaging...

    TD4 FL Mk1 just stopped...

Thanks everyone, all stripped down. No life in the pump even when applying 12v direct, so it defiantly looks like the problem. New Pump and filter tomorrow and hopefully all sorted. thanks again Tim

Thanks for the reply, where's the fuel filter on this model? Is it in the front wheel arch? thanks Tim

    TD4 FL Mk1 just stopped...

Its not the relay, its not the fuel cut off, so I'm guessing it could be fuel filter - never changed and the cars done 90K or the fuel pump itself. I'm confused as mine is an '03 plate. I've just had my head under the car whilst turning the ignition on and off and can't hear anything. No pump...

    TD4 FL Mk1 just stopped...

Hi All, i've owned my Freelander TD4 Es premium since 2004 and totally out of character it's let me wife down today. the car is a 2003 Freelander I TD4 Driving along an A road, Engine light came on, she pulled immediately to side of the road, the engine then stopped and now refuses to...

    P38 Rear hub

Thanks for the reply, I did make a mistake in my original post, the wear on the Front tyres is on the outer edge of the N/S tyre and inner edge of the O/S tyre, it's as if it's crabbing. Irishrover - you have PM & thanks. Tim

    P38 Rear hub

Couple of questions if I may guys, I only ever seem to come on here when my much abused Rangie throws a hissy fit! Firstly, I've been having some odd tyre wear on both front and rear axles, most noticable on the Front NS as it's on the outer edge, but there's also wear on the Front NS inner...

    Where is EAS drain plug?

That's great, thanks. I've been trying to contact the local indi', that I use, but he's not answering his phone so I can't get it booked in, so any local help with a Rovacom to simply carry out a reset would be great. Tim

    Where is EAS drain plug?

Thanks, have now fitted the manual kit, so just need to book it in to have the ECU reset. Long shot but there isn't anyone in SE Kent who has a Rovacom and fancies doing me a favour is there? Bit gutted to have to pay £35 to get it reset again. Thanks Tim

    Where is EAS drain plug?

I'm in the process of fitting a manual inflation kit to my '97 P38a. The car went into Hard Fault mode yesterday, it's a problem I've had a couple of times and my local indi' has diagnosed the EAS control box, the one attached to the valve block, as the problem. I've fitted a new control...

    Key Fob

To add to this you need to know what key you already have. There are 4 keys as far as I remember, Key1, 2, 3 & 4. You cannot have cloned keys, so you cannot have 2 key1s and expect them to work. There is an article on Main Page - RangieWiki P38A Keys and Security - RangieWiki Oh, don't get...

    p38 paranoia!!!!!!

This doesn't hold water as TVR used the Buick/Rover V8 in 5ltr form, and the new RR uses the BMW V8 and NOT the RV8. The RV8 is a simple engine and easy to work on once you strip off the complicated bits. :D BTW, I've had a 3.5 Hi compression RV8 a 5.0 RV8 in my Chimaera and now have a lovely...

    Replacement Exhausts.

I've just bought these bits, and yes the cats and Y piece are in 3 sections. It's made by Bosal, so half way decent. I bought them from Island 4x4 on Sheppey (Kent): Island 4x4 - High quality aftermarket parts for your Land Rover Freelander, Discovery, Defender and Range Rover. They also sell...

HELP! EAS fault now rear on the ground!

Hi, After just a week my RR seems determined to bankrupt me! Was just coming home and the EAS Fault light came on and put the car into Standard ride height. I pulled over and switched off the ignition, leaving it for 3 mins as per the manual, and restarted but the fault persists, but the car...

    RPI Gems chip

Thanks for the replies. I have bought a pair of cats on the Y piece and also a middle box, along with a can of Plus Gas to soak the manifiold studs in! Do they sheer btw? I paid nearly £400 for the two bits, but if anyone's interested there's a guy on eBay selling pre '98 cats and Y piece...

    RPI Gems chip

No, I don't think you do. The exhaust guy wants £150+ to cut and shut the cats. But tbh the exhaust isn't in the greatest condition, I can get a new Y piece and cats for around £300 so am edging towards that. Haven't found anyone that does an off the shelf decat Y piece. I know LR did one...

    RPI Gems chip

Okay may have a development. I dropped my TVR off with the exhuast fabricators this morning, when he heard the RR he said 'oh, sounds like the cat's collapsed', so my question is, would a blocked/collapsed cat have a detramental effect on the performance, I know it won't help, but how bad...

    RPI Gems chip

Hi all, I've had a search of the forum and not come up with anything. I picked up my RR at the weekend and it seems a little 'sluggish' so much so that my wife didin't like driving it on the motorway, she was worried by the glacial response to throttle inputs. So, I'm wondering about...
