Afternoon all,

I'm trying to put my 1997 P38 Range Rover back on the road after, what is really two years off the road. It was MOTd last year but has only covered a few hundred miles since then.

Anyway, took it for an MOT today.

A couple of advisories on:

Steering lock not engaging

Anti-roll bar ball joint slight play

Slight play in steering drop arm ball joint.

Other than the steering lock they're easy,

But it failed BIG TIME on emissions, its never had emission issues before.

It failed on all 3!

Fast Idle

CO= 7.02 (Pass = 0.30)
HC = 766 (Pass = 200)
Lambda = 0.813 (Pass = 0.950-1.090)

Help, where to start? Lambda probe?

Thanks

Tim

Take a look at the lambda sensors first using diagnostics (or you can probe the pins directly at the ECU if you wish.

Thanks for you replies chaps.

If I change the Lambda sensors, will I need to have the adaptives reset to see any improvement? I ask as I obviously can't drive the car to let it 'learn' the new settings?

Next question - cheapest way to reset the adaptives? LR seem to charge a fortune. and tbh bit shocked at the £75 for MOT test and retest!

Thanks

Tim

Disconnection the battery makes it forget. £75 is a lot. Round here it is only £30 for test and £50 if you have to retest.
