    Freelander 2 (LR2) Misfire problem

The garage will have had it for a week tomorrow - at what point do I say enough's enough, you aren't getting anywhere? Do I have to pay them for the time they've spent NOT fixing it? If these bits of valve have been ingested and shredded the engine where do I stand? It seems to be to be a...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Misfire problem

To be honest I've got no idea if this is possible, but I thought the injector nozzles were inside the chambers.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Misfire problem

My Freelander 2 2.2 TD4 (99k miles, 1997 model) started misfiring badly and constantly on the way to work on Wednesday morning. I had to call the AA, and the guy spent quite a while trying to diagnose the problem (nothing obvious on the diagnostics and it didn't go into engine management mode)...

Diff-lock or not diff-lock? That is the question.

I am thinking of getting a Discovery II Td5 auto to replace my current Freelander Td4. My question is, should I look for one with a diff-lock, or is it not that important? I mean, Land Rover didn't think it was necessary since they deleted it after they put ETC and HDC on it. But then they...

Brakes after parking on a hill

Whenever I park my 51 plate Td4 facing downhill I seem to get a problem with the brakes. The brake pedal always seems very firm and the brakes are not very effective initially. Once I drive off and use the brakes a few times it returns to normal. Any ideas what's going on?

    Electric window kaput

All sorted now - fitted a pair of new regulators yesterday. The windows are working and I'm £170 poorer. Still, it would have been worse if I hadn't fitted them myself. Not too bad a job - but the Haynes book of lies instruction to "manouevre the regulator out through the aperture in the...

    Electric window kaput

Thanks. I eventually managed to get it to go up by pushing it right down - then the motor started working, not properly, but enough for me to be able to help it up by hand. At least it's closed, but I guess it's gonna cost me money to fix it now. The other side doesn't sound too clever either :(...

    Electric window kaput

The electric window has failed in one of the rear side passenger doors. I can drag the glass up until there is a 4" gap but no further. How can I get the glass up - even if only temporary for now until I can get it properly fixed. I can't leave it anywhere like this? Freelander Td4 SE 2001

    tyre pressures

Check out the letter in the workshop Q&A section of the current LRO. Letter submitted by... guess who ...? Also confirmed by my local dealer that 30psi is correct for my Td4 (handbook says 26psi).

    Water ingress

After the couple of days of rain we've been having I came out this morning to find a puddle on the load space cover, and the rear 4" or so of the headlining was soaking wet (I probably squeezed half a pint of water out of it by running my hand back and forth across it). Where's this likely to...

    Powerfold mirrors

OK guys, major problem with my Freelander (joke). My powerfold mirrors sometimes don't. Often they work fine, then sometimes they don't. Sometimes I can turn the switch to adjust the angle of the mirror and then move it back to the centre and then the mirrors will fold (or unfold as the case...

    tyre pressures

"Officially" as in that is Land Rover's recommendation? My manual says 26 psi and that is what I am using, but does this mean I should be running at 30 psi? Mine is a 51-plate Td4 ES 5-dr on 16" wheels. Tyres (from memory) are Goodyear Wrangler HP 215/65R16

    TD4 stiff when reversing..

Funnily enough I tried this on my 51 Td4 ES yesterday, and it was stiff but I could turn it very slowly. Trouble is I don't know how stiff it *should* be. As ianh1 says, shouldn't this be done with the car *in* gear, otherwise you can just spin the whole transmission? Stupid thing is, I can't...

    map reading lights

Same problem in my 51 Td4 ES 5dr. I tried prising the unit out of the headlining but couldn't. The rear edge comes down OK but it felt like something might break if I pulled any harder to get the unit out. Any trick to doing this?

    VCU test (again) and castellation

I know we are all paranoid about our VCU, and I am sometimes concerned that the braking effect on full lock is too much. But how much is too much? Could we come up with a test for this? I am thinking of something like finding an empty car park and driving at 5mph (or whatever) on full lock then...

Apologies - this should be in the Freelander sub-forum.

    Fit new tyres to rear?

Not really sure what your point is. The Range Rover has a proper transfer box too, and is considerably more expensive than a Freelander. And? You could argue that Suzuki misjudged their market if only 5% of buyers ever use 4wd. And never underestimate the stupidity of some drivers when faced...

    Fit new tyres to rear?

This article suggests another reason for recommending new tyres are fitted to the rear, which has nothing to do with 4wd. Understeer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Fit new tyres to rear?

It *implies* that a (hypothetical) FL with a high/low 'box would be more costly, heavier and more complex than the actual FL which doesn't have a high/low box. Probably.
