    European trip disco

I know it sounds trivial, but ensure A/C works, you will need it in south France & Spain. I have been to S France & S Germany in mine. The engine is bullet proof (when cam belt sorted) just needs maintenance, same with drive line, I would recommend road biased tyres if you have the choice...

    D2 bits that will fit a D1

'A' pillar trims with the speakers in them, sun visors with illuminated mirrors. (All the wiring is there in a 1998 TDi) Various bits of fake wood trim.

To name or not to name?....

Mine's called Rod as the registration is ROD, I hate the reg number, but can't be bothered to take the plate off. It came with the private plate.

    snorkel 300tdi abs

Don't see why you could not fit the snorkel, the main difference between the two is where the air is let into the air cleaner box. On the ABS models you have to move the box sideways, but this is explained on you tube, where there is a video of how to do it.

    Bought another Disco.

TBH that is a very good disco, I have seen a lot worse and the rust on the rear wheel arch is approx the same as mine which has gone through two MOT's. Mind you it is lathered in Waxoyl. You have done well with that one. Why not get something disposable and automatic. I have some land in...

    Bought another Disco.

The gear lever is an easy fix. It needs a new bias plate, about £5.00 on Fleabay, but you need a pop rivet gun to put the membrane back after changing the plate. The self cancelling is again an easy fix. There is a chappie on Ebay in Barnstaple (I think) that makes a replacement bow tie (that...

Disco 1 window sizes the same as disco 2?

Think that the doors are the same, the rear windows are larger so you will be able to cut the film down to fit. The back door window I don't think changed so the film should just fit.

300 tdi soot collector (DPF) as silencer

The first 'box on late 300Tdi's is a 2 stage cat, a simple thing that is best got rid of. No problem with the MOT as not every 300Tdi left the factory so fitted for some reason. The next box is an expansion chamber with little in it so the gasses can expand. The last box actually does the...

Disco 1 300TDI Weird Starting Problem

I'm with biolandy, get the Delphi. Had to replace a Britpart one once as it started to let oil out of the engine. Had the Delphi, never had a moments problem. Seem to remember they are around the £40.00 mark, though you may be able to get cheaper by shopping around.

    The Devonshire Disco!

OOOH!! That looks fun. Would you mind if I were to tag along when next in the area? Must get my OS maps out.

    Seat foam replacement.

Yes, only the one as the passenger seat has not been used as much as the drivers and is still in good condition. Though I would not hesitate to do the seat if it needed it.

    Seat foam replacement.

Seat foam arrived, three hours later re-fitted back in the disco. The whole procedure was easy I just followed the video instructions allowing for the few differences in the covers fitted to my XS model. There are more hooks on the new diaphragm so you need to drill both the front and rear...

    Seat foam replacement.

The diaphragm & Seat foam, including VAT & P&P come out at a few coppers short of £85.00 from Exmoor. Have a look at their website they have several high quality seat covers, though if you have leather then your covers will be a bit different from the cloth ones depicted, but only a bit. From...

    EDC Injection pump replacement.

Chin up Paul, it doesn't hate you, it's a Land Rover. Do not forget it was designed by a communist committee and built by people who at the time couldn't give a toss. Funny really, I absolutely love mine and would not be without it even when it is naughty.

    Seat foam replacement.

Pas du tout, M Le grand, I was just using 'KeepDiggings' logic. Will be removing the seat this pm and making up the tools as suggested in the video. I am not using new covers as there is nothing wrong with mine, I am hoping that the leather will mould itself to the new foam maybe with the...

    Seat foam replacement.

Has any one replaced the seat base foam? I have ordered a new foam base and rubber diaphragm from Exmoor Trim and have watched the video a couple of times and was wondering how easy/difficult the process was. This will be the first time I have ever tried my hand at upholstery.

    drivers side indicators stuck on

This will be no help to you, but mine did a similar thing with it's spotlights. Was walking down the drive and though the car was locked and the keys in the house both spots were on. Traced it down to a faulty relay in the end. Possibly one area to look at.

    Gear lever bias plate advice

Thanks again for the very helpful advice. Whilst I can wield a spanner & socket set and can even cope with electrics, I am a complete novice when it comes to the black arts of welding. I did learn to braze when I was at school, but that was so long ago, the dinosaurs were still roaming the...

    Gear lever bias plate advice

Thank you for the information, I shall be having words with the garage that fitted the current one and shall be purchasing the correct one tomorrow. It just goes to show that if you want a job doing correctly, then DIY is the only way. Whilst I have the centre console off I may have a bash at...
