Early disco 3 or late 2

I am sure this has been asked before but I thought t was worth a specific. I will be looking to spend 10 ish k on a discovery. I want lowish mileage and reliability as I do a fair few miles, towing and also going to the Alps. I know the disco 3 s meant to be a much nicer car, but I did like...

    SWB Wheels - probably again.

    Thanks. I think I have 2 x 6.5 rims and 2 x 5 rims. I guess I really need 2 more 6.5 rims.

    Gearbox Noise

Mine were in the drain plug of my gearbox. other forums suggest the gearbox will work ok without them.

    SWB Wheels - probably again.

Yes, although it is difficult to tell if they are as narrow as my ones from the photo.

    SWB Wheels - probably again.

Ok I have a set of SWB wheels - the narrow ones - and I want to fit 750s on them. Will 750s fit on SWB rims ok? My problem is I have two wider wheels, from a lwb I think, and 2 narrow ones.

30 year rolling car tax exemption petition

That's basically the response others have made. "my car is younger so what do I care if there is a risk it will kill it completely". Lots of people forgetting that there might be a day when they actually bought a pre - 1973 vehicle. so f off yourself.

30 year rolling car tax exemption petition

If this succeeds in being debated it will be the death knell of any exemption. The only reason it exists now is it is under the radar. The government wont / can't afford a rolling exemption so will take the opportunity to kill it completely and possibly charge more for older vehicles on a green...

    2.25 spice girl

I would think that the standard camshaft has such mild duration, lift and overlap that a hotter one would make a fair difference. The manifold, if it has fairly equal, lengths will add a fair chunk of torque. The standard one looks to be designed with no thought to efficiency or synchronising...

mls headgasket. do they really work?

In the Elise world the view is that liner height is critical to the sealing of the gasket. K series is viewed as reliable in lotus use if the head gasket is fixed properly.

    John Craddock Buyer beware

I have a fair bit of sympathy for the OP. He probably paid over the odds for a vehicle from a well known Landy organisation. If they said it was mechanically sound then many of the items listed by the specialist should have been sorted prior to purchase. It is irrelevant that he wasn't...

    Cloned Vehicle

I believe that you have recourse back to the person who sold it to you, as long as you can prove he sold it to you. Get a solicitor's advice though.

Engine / gearbox too far forward.

OK I am working on my 1969 series 2a which I bought in November. I have been using a 5 page MOT failure list as a rough guide to restoration and I have finished all the chassis and suspension stuff. However, I have noticed that the engine and gearbox are about 1 inch further forward than they...

What tyres are on the 8 spokes? They go pretty well with them. I have 8 spokes on my 2a and I am not sure whether to replace with standard.
