Hi guys, popped into the local garage to inspect my brothers crash-damaged car and noticed they had an old series 3 round the back...

It's a late one (maybe C reg) with a 2.25 petrol 5brg engine, salisbury rear axle, bull bar, roof rack, fairey overdrive, decent set of insa tyres on it, deluxe seats in good nick, bench seats in the back etc

It's been sat up for a while after the garage bought it as part of an un-paid bill and the bloke is planning on weighing it in in a couple of weeks.

I don't know if it's a runner or how long it's been off the road but the bodywork is good, bulkhead is suprisingly good and chassis needs a few patches. The door bottoms are all tidy too.

So the question, for £150 is it worth it to either tinker, MOT and sell on or break for parts to sell? I thought that the doors, bulkhead, tyres, overdrive and roof rack would easily see the £150 back again, what do you guys reckon?

Thanks in advance, Harry

Sorry guys but looks like i've bought it :D:D

The bloke wanted £150 for the landy and £200 for the tyres...I've got it for £180 for the lot :D

turned out is was a 1973, the bloke got the reg wrong, it's C suffix.

It has failed the MOT on:
worn bushes all round
rear end of the chassis is buggered up to the gearbox
brakes pull to one side and are innefficient (oil seals have let axle oil into brakes)
indicators don't work
headlights dont work
exhaust isn't connected
door hinges too loose

On the plus side, the roof rack is a brownchurch job, engine started instantly and runs sweet as a nut also had a new carb recently, got a leccy fan, new door tops, pretty good bulkhead thats had a replacement footwell, 235 85 insas on new 8 spokes.

It's ****ing oil around the gearbox/transfer box also.

A bloke took it to the garage for the mot, got presented with a huge bill so has taken a jap 4x4 on test, if he buys the jap thing then the series will be used as part exchange and i can pick it up on monday or tuesday.

This is the first bit of good luck i've had with land rovers since i was 16!
