It sounds like you have an air leak. Check all the hoses and pipes between the turbo and and the inlet manifold. Its probably blowing out as apposed to sucking. Are you loosing a little power too?

How many miles has it done?

I've just read this thread and it sounds like a real pain. Firstly I'd check the earth from the engine to the body/battery to make sure the glow plugs are earthing ok. I'm not sure this next suggestion will be of value but... I was once asked to look at a Peugeot 306 that had the same problem...
