I tried swinton for my dad, he has full no claims and they quoted £590.00. I also went through confused.com and money supermarket they were all £470.00 and up. So i put in my details i paid £230.00 last year with Adrian flux nothing has changed and my quotes are coming back as £560.00 and upwards.

So how are you guys getting these prices??

Mark

My dad has done his car insurance now he has stopped with his original insurance footman james, i noticed on the attatchment that we have a few of the extras (protected no claims, breakdown etc) and his age is probably against him now as he is 70. What does annoy me a bit though is that i have a morris traveller as a second car, it is worth a lot more than my range rover, on unlimited milage and with protected no claims, agreed value and breakdown insurance it costs me £60 a year.
My insurance isnt up until july so we will see what my quote comes back as then.
All the best to you all
Mark

Footman James £300 for full comp (P38 DSE 98)unlimited miles breakdown cover blah blah blah,(wife is on the policy too) £190 for my Land Rover Series 2 (a 1958) but my son is on that too (he is now 21)

BUT always ring up, you get a better deal on the phone than an on line quote (every time) so always ring then with the on line quote in front of you

My dad is with footman james he is 70, i am on the policy and i am 41, neither of us have any convictions and both have full no claims discount. His car is a 2002 p38 2.5dse. He has protected no claims breakdown cover and unlimited milage, its cost him £451.85.
Another strange thing that happens with the online comparison sites is when his reg is put in it comes up as no p38 had been registered in 2002, but it shows up as a 2001 westminster, and it certainly isnt a westminster (wish it was). The car has been checked and chassis / reg ect all match to the car it actually is, a gold dse,
strange.

I've just had a quote off footman james.

Clean licence, 10yrs no claims, 60 yrs old , for 110 1984 V8 with no mods

+ limited mileage

£455.00...

Thanks Guys, I've shopped around and confused are coming in at about £200 / yr cheapest. That still seems a lot for a car that is just sitting on a drive 97% of the year.

God knows what will happen if the Gov bring that legislation in that every car has to be covered by car insurance regardless of the situation.

it seems to me that insurance is based on two way trust so reading through the costs it seems they charge what they want on the day,Ive found that if you spend a bit of time talking to the sales rep you can get the price down by comeing across as calm and gentle with a "no rush" attitude.
I have a well modded 4.0 range and pay just £300.

Just under a hundred with Footman James. Fully comp. unlimitd mileage. OLD fart. 49 years driving. Clean licence. No accidents. No convictions (well, not been caught).
Bragging sanctimonious old git - daren't go out driving now. Tempting fate with all that stuff!

I think what brings mine up so high is i live in that there London!!! (we are all thieving gits!!)

i have a 1995 p38 dtse as a second vehicle, insured through axa insurance, for £330 in northern ireland. No limit on milage, breakdown cover and £100 excess. Insurance is generally dearer here, not due to years of violence and social unrest but because of the sponging bastards who claim thousands on compensation due to whiplash and emotional distress following a crash. Still not bad for this neck of the woods.

i went with lancaster insurance they specialise in 4x4,s and with no ncb as second car for me and the wife it came out at 334 pound with breakdown cover ect with my existing company for my first car they wanted 998 pound (jokers) i am 34 though so would be cheaper than someone in there 20,s
