Freelander 2 (LR2) Chasing weird noises

Afternoon one and all! In search of my latest weird noise I have removed the cambelt, tensioner and idler. However, my flywheel locking tool jumped while undoing the crankshaft pulley and now I need to relocate the correct hole in the flywheel. Should the pin/drill bit go right through the...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Bit of fun. Guess the job....

This is the current state of my 2010 TD4e. Can anyone correctly guess the job I was trying to do - which inevitably turned in to 6 jobs lol!

    Freelander 2 (LR2) A/C compressor clutch

Evening All, The AC on my 10'plate TD4 is making a noise. The system still blows cold, engages and disengages on the button etc. I plan to replace the pulley/clutch before I start thinking about a new compressor. Also, I'm doing the aux belt, tensioner, alternator freewheel thingy so, makes...

    Dash-cam shenanigans

Hi all, Just installed a pair of Nextbase 122 dash-cams, one front, one rear. I used a Nextbase hardwire kit on the front camera and the cigar lighter plug for the rear. Neither camera powers down automatically.... I'm sure every fuse in the box under the glove compartment isn't permanently live...

    Retrofitting lumbar support

My GS doesn't have lumbar support from the factory, I want lumbar support. Anybody known if I can retrofit it using LR parts? Many thanks.

    FL2 tyre sizes

Hi all, Anyone running non-standard tyre sizes? I saw one wearing 255/65s on its 17s and thought "I bet they don't fowl anywhere, they're only slightly bigger than standard". I just put a deposit on an FL2 and was thinking of doing the same. Any thoughts? Cheers all.

    Which dmf, clutch kit?

Evening all, I'm thinking about buying a cheap FL2 TD4e from a friend but, it needs a clutch. Can anyone recommend a decent clutch kit and DMF please? I'm hoping I can get it cheap enough to cover the cost of parts. Many thanks.

Any other petrol FL2 owners on here?

I'm struggling to find any information on the 3.2, 6 cylinder FL2. I know it's a Volvo unit and wasn't a popular choice in the UK. I'm struggling to find parts prices or service manuals in the UK. Any other owners on here...?

    Freelander 2 niggles

Hi all, haven't been on here for a few years as I went Japanese for a bit (GV2).... I apologise for this heresy. Yesterday I took delivery of a 2006, FL2 3.2 petrol. I LOVE IT! However.... I need to so something about the rust beginning to appear around the rear arches, where the doors shut. I...

    Freelander 1 Dripping with Diesel....

My 2003 TD4 was smoking like hell on start up but cleared up as engine temp increased. I knew the injectors needed doing so i whipped them out and stuck a set of freshly reconditioned items in. While i was in there i replaced a weeping cam-cover seal, de-coked the ports and thoroughly de-greased...

    Freelander 1 Cooling system

Right. To add to my list of Freelander jobs, my cooling system is now playing silly beggers. The temperature gauge reads as normal, the top radiator hose gets hot as does the coolant in the reservoir but the bottom hose remains cold. The radiator doesn't heat up either. Is the thermostat stuck...

Freelander 1 Fuel rail pressure sensor harness upgrade

So, I've drilled a hole for the little rubber grommet and removed the plugs from their connector blocks. I just want to triple check the pin numbers before i go any further.... I've done a little research and the numbers 20, 33 & 35 seem to come up most often. Are these the correct pins for...

Freelander 1 She only really revs very occasionally.... 02' TD4

So i bought my little landy knowing full well she was going to test me. I hadn't expected her to test my skills and my patience (& wallet) quite this much though. Good job I'm completely smitten or i'd have burned her sacrificially! She very seldom produces any power. She starts fine, idles...

Freelander 1 Tailgate window stuck open.... Kind of inconvenient.

Hi all, I've just rewired my rear lights so the higher clusters now take cafe of the signals, sides and brake lights and the bumper clusters now show fogs and reverse lights. This way around makes more sense to me. While I was in the i must have dislodged something because now i can't get the...

    Freelander 1 TD4 Jumping Injector....?!

Good day to you all! I hope it's as sunny where you are as it is in my little slice of Suffolk! I've just installed a new turbo cartridge and given the inlets and manifolds a bit of a de-coke. I put her back together with new gaskets/seals/washers throughout. I made sure to replace the...

    Freelander 1 It's happened again....

Hi, I'm Craig and I have a problem. Whenever I try to carry out even the most basic of tasks I end up spending all day under the bonnet. This morning I dropped the engine oil out and replaced the oil filter. While I was replacing the breather on the cam cover I realised that there was an...

    Freelander 1 Audio type question.

I recently had my clutch done and the battery was disconnected for a while. I've trawled the history file and can't find a radio code anywhere. I think I've tried all the stupidly obvious codes but sadly, i'm running out of ideas. In the olden days i'd have put it in the freezer for a few days...

    Freelander 1 Bottom ball joint.

So being the glutton for punishment that I am, I decided to replace the osf bottom ball joint this afternoon. I thought to myself 'this will be a half hour job, I've done hundreds of these in the past, easy!'. Well the laugh was on me wasn't it.

Freelander 1 The dreaded clutch slave cylinder!

I understand this is a pretty common problem. I understand replacing the offending article is a very time consuming job. I understand nobody in their right mind would attempt such a job at their home, on their driveway with limited tools and sensitive neighbours. Tomorrow morning i will begin...
