Which dmf, clutch kit?

Evening all,
I'm thinking about buying a cheap FL2 TD4e from a friend but, it needs a clutch.
Can anyone recommend a decent clutch kit and DMF please? I'm hoping I can get it cheap enough to cover the cost of parts.

The DMF is generally good for 2 clutches, so they aren't always needed, definitely check the free play before wasting money on one.

LUK are the OE clutch, so that's what to buy as a replacement.

If you don't mind me asking, how cheap is cheap, and are you happy buying a vehicle that has almost nothing useful as standard?

Cheap is £3500 for a £5000 car.
I noticed a slight judder when I reversed up a hill which made me think about the dmf. The vehicle has only done 99k miles though.

Is that the only reason you're changing the clutch or is it slipping?

There's a bit off slip under hard acceleration in second and the bute is right at the top of the pedal travel. I'm assuming it's a tired clutch and possibly a tired flywheel. The vehicle has no history for the last few years so no evidence of a clutch.

To be honest £3500 sounds expensive for a low spec model that needs ££ spent on it.
Do a we buy any car to get an idea of its true value. It suspect it'll come back at under £2k.

I paid £2000 for my 58 plate SE 3 years ago, although I did have to repair the engine and replace the rear diff. Mine has cost me under £3200 all in to make a pretty much perfect vehicle with full history.

Just heard that he's sold it
He got £3900 for it, I'm guessing rhey didn't test it as thoroughly as I did.
There'll be other I'm sure.

It's fate.
There'll be others. Unfortunately the FL2 pre-facelift isn't holding its money as well as the facelift version.
I've seen sensible mileage (under 150k) high spec (SE and HSE) pre-facelift (pre 2012) that need things like diffs, PTUs and gearboxes selling for under £2500. It seems that buyers of such vehicles are put off by the cost of such repair work in a garage.
If you can DIY, then there are bargains to be had.
