Hi, I'm Craig and I have a problem.

Whenever I try to carry out even the most basic of tasks I end up spending all day under the bonnet.
This morning I dropped the engine oil out and replaced the oil filter. While I was replacing the breather on the cam cover I realised that there was an accumulation of fluid around the injectors.
This is where I'm currently at....

While I'm in here I figure I might as well clean the manifold and ports out, replace the o-rings on the fuel lines and clean the injectors.

Now here's the question: This little vacuum whatsit, what is it, is it still necessary without an egr valve?

yes is used for ur brake servo and turbo , always good to check the entire length of all ur vacuum hoses as they can split

where u are pointing there are vacuum pipes below , check them as they touch the engine and get holes burnt in them

also by the turbo actuator , as u look at the engine , down low on the left hand side , right down the back

as you've got the plastic engine cover off the bottom u may find it easier to look up but can see it from the top as well

plus have u also checked, replaced the small turbo filter that is also at the back left hand side , is only conn eyed by one pipe

By 'the small turbo filter' do you mean the little clear plastic one which just hangs in there all on it's own?

Yes the filter hanging loose down the back is for the turbo. It's supposed to be open at one end. The vacuum valve you are pointing to it the EGR duty solonoid. Unplugging it will cause a fault code. Just plug the pipes if you have blanked the EGR valve ;)

Is it worth replacing that solenoid then? I've replaced all the others haha!
