Replace screws after removing rear seats

Hi,

I've got a Defender 110 Station Wagon. Not the latest one, the one before.

It's got essentially 9 seats. Well, they were taking up space.

The set of four seats that are in the rear that face each other have been removed and their mounting brackets.

Of course I now have a set of 10mm holes in the rear, above the wheel arch.

What type of screws/bolts would you recommend I use to fill these with - I presume SS with Nyloc bolts ? Perhaps some washers ?

Any advice appreciated - also where to purchase.

I am also considering replacing some of the door mount screws as they are starting to rust. Suggestions ?

Rubber blind grommets. Cheap and effective.

Had not even thought about that...

Makes perfect sense, not too sure how well they hold up to having "things" put on them and general wear and tear - i.e. popping out.

Oh, it will also mean nice and easy to put the seats back in...

You can buy a pck of blind grommets from Toolstation you will also get stainless steel nuts bolts and washers with free delivery when you spend over a tenner.

When i removed the bench seats in my old 11csw thats what i filled the bolt holes with but i did put a dab of grease under the washers, then put rubber matting over the wheel boxes anyway. There are loads of suppliers for hinge bolts etc on fleebay thats where i got the ones for my front doors for my 90 from the rear door and crossmember came from toolstation

I fitted SS bolts/washers/nylonic nuts. I'm not sure what kind of aluminium/steel reaction there can be with SS but all good so far.

There shouldn't be any problem with stainless but if you're worried just stick some nylon washers in.

and lube with Aluslip

Stainless will cause aluminium and others to corrode, common problem here, especially evident on roofs where stainless valley gutters have been installed, if the roof sheeting touches the stainless there are holes corroded through it in about 4 to 5 years.

Any reason other than harder to remove, why I should not use Flange Head Rivets ?

If I needed to remove I would have to drill them out. But I can't see myself removing them.
