Tried a few the problem is it only happens when wet, i.e driven through puddles, etc/ Where abouts are all the earth straps located? Thanks for the help.

Sounds ike a similar problem I'm having with mine. Someimesstruggles to go into gear, especially when stopped for example driving around stop or at lights, then its a struggle to sometimes get it out of gear and into gear, without force, then its fine... do you think this could be the problem...

I have a 9 year old defender TD5 and my chassis especially at the rear has started to get a coasting of light rust everywhere, changing from its nice black colour to a rusty dull finish... Whats the best way to protect my chassis from any future problems and prolong its life further? :)

During wet weather, winter and offoading my defender sometimes will not start it turns over but wont fire up, it takes multiple turns and it eventually fires up, just turning the key again and again till she starts... Strangely its been fine in the summer weather with no large puddles...

No idea, I haven't checked it for a good while... Seems to be running ok. Should I be looking for problems elsewhere? Cant believe how much I needed to add :eek:, no doubt it will have caused some wear..

I've been really busy the last 6 month, and I've never checked my TD5 engine oil for a long time, with rushing around and everything being so hectic. I noticed a noise like a tapping noise for than usual coming from near my air intake side awhile ago, didn't affect performance, I just thought...

It changes gear ok, then when I stop sometimes its difficult to get it into 1st dear, I have to depress the clutch then lift it and depress again to change gear, it just wont go in sometimes... Sometimes its ok.. What did happen only on one occasion was I had the clutch fully depressed and it...

I think my clutch master/slave cylinder are about gone on my defender, mainly due to difficulty changing gear over the last few months.. How much do you think roughly a main landrover dealer would charge to supply and fit? Thanks

The last month I've had problems with my defender not starting properly. Sometimes it turns over fine, other times it just clicks, so I try again, multiple times and it maybe takes 3 times or sometimes 7, it just clicks, then it eventually fires over on a lucky key turn.. Any suggestions, I...

Lately if I have gone through large puddles or small streams in my 2005 defender, afterwards for a day or so it won't start, it takes numerous attempts, turning the key does nothing, then maybe after 6, 7 times I get lucky and it turns over... Anyone have any ideas what it could be and were...
