Does anyone leave their Defender on a trickle charger

On our vehicles the trickle charger is fitted in the battery compartment and a waterproof 250v socket fitted to the outside. The wire from the socket to the charger is orange to differentiate it from normal wiring.

    Cordless 1/2" Impact Driver

We use Milwaukee 1/2’’ and 3/4’’ drive M18 at work and they are excellent, expensive but you never have good tools if you don’t buy good tools. Slowly renewing my own cordless tools with Milwaukee now.

High level brake light on older style door

The bracket is Aluminium, the black plastic was an afterthought to stop the light shining in my mirror. Will neaten it all up one day.

Anyone able to identify this connector? (Behind fuse box)

I seem to remember from my foggy past that is something to do with lighting. It may have been that it makes your dipped beam headlight come on when on sidelights or something of that.

Anyone know what this connector is hanging out the fusebox? 1990 ex-mil defender

I remember vaguely playing with one of those plugs, if I remember there should be another connector plug in the same area that plugs into it. I also seem to remember that it is something to do with the side and dipped beam so they come on together when side is switched on on the 6 way lighting...

    Aerial cable, dash wiring

When I did mine I straightened a wire coat hanger and fed it behind the grey cover from behind the stereo towards the speedo. I then taped the wires to the coat hanger and pulled them through. Worked a treat.

    Vinnies Defender 110 CSW 300TDI

Looking good Vinnie, glad to see your back safe, got rid of the whirring release bearing noise yet? You'll have to pop round for a brew if your still around here.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Removed, recharged then refitted my battery after i left the side lights on last night. Didn't realise the alarm would be that loud, nearly needed to change my underpants when I connected the fully charged battery.

    freelander td4 not starting

I had a problem like this recently, with intermittent starting. Turned out to be the fuel pump needed replacing. Are you getting the engine management light staying on? with your stereo turned off etc can you hear the fuel pump 'ticking' with the ignition on?

    landy is poorly

Are you sure that it's charging at the right voltage (13.something Volts)? Also I've had one with a high resistance in the battery positive to starter motor cable that would let the Lannie start on the first turn of the key then not for the rest of the day, diagnosed it by using a set of jump...

    24v battery

If it is an ex military 24v FFR land rover then there should be a radio battery box in the rear, charged from a 24V radio battery alternator that is on the upper left hand of the engine if viewed from the front of the vehicle. If that is what you have, run the winch from the FFR batteries in the...

    12v or 24v

Just a gut feeling, but it looks to me like a 24V TUM HS Winterised / Waterproof alternator to me. I believe they also have a smaller pulley on to spin faster so you could try measuring that to see if theres a difference. 24V serpentine belts don't fit on 12V standard Defenders due to the pulley...
