Hi all
I am about to install a socket to trickle change my defender when not in use. Do many owners trickle charge their defenders?

My plan it to add a magcode power clip to the rear of the front bumper and run some 12awg cable to the batter. This will allow the car to be charged for periods of time without cables running over door seals for a period of time

What are peoples thoughts

Fit a fuse as close to the plug as possible, so when out and about some muppet cannot short out the plug.

On our vehicles the trickle charger is fitted in the battery compartment and a waterproof 250v socket fitted to the outside. The wire from the socket to the charger is orange to differentiate it from normal wiring.

You shouldn't need to do that if you have a decent battery, and use the vehicle regularly.

Current draw from the AS10, radio when locked etc shouldn't be more than 30mA so you would need to leave the vehicle for a couple of months before any meaningful depletion
That said trackers and other add ons can put this over 200mA which would start to be an issue if infrequent use (approx 5A a day off a 100A battery, maybe a week before potential starting issues)

I have had a tracker kill a battery in under a fortnight, was genuinely surprised when I turned the key and nowt happened!
