When you forced the pump to run did it cut out by itself?

You then said that once you had pressure in system the suspension dropped and rose when requested but did the pump switch on again?

I'm wondering if you have a problem either with your pressure switch or it's wiring. Have you checked the fuse box? Is there any sign of problems under where the relay socket is located? You could have an intermttent fault caused by a cracked connection or track in the fuse box on the low power side of the relay.
Hi dogsbody
1st no the pump keeps going
2nd no pump stayed off
3rd I have looked at the fuse box all seems fine (fuse good eg) I have looked at the relay and there is no power at the low power ie from bran.
I will now go and have a look at the bottem of the fuse box.
Thanks

Hi just tacken fuse box to bits and it look like water has at some time got in there also the smell of burnt. So look like it mite by the problem, I was wondering if this also could have something to do with the transfer box problem as well.

A duff fuse box can throw up all sorts of problems, the poor old BECM often incorrectly gets the blame. It's a common failure item:)

We had similar problems and it turned out to be the driver.....

Not sure of your location but if you are anywhere near Bedford then you are welcome to borrow our spare as a test.....

Hi mate thanks for your kind offer but I am in Yate just out side Bristol.
Thanks

Now you tell us.

There's a spare compressor, valve block & driver in my garage. Mind you I still reckon it's your fusebox or wiring but if you need a second set of eyes (and you own a kettle) give me a shout.

:D

Unless there is some sort of fault in the driver pack that is effecting the ECU it cannot be that, it has nothing to do with running the compressor. The only thing it does when compressor is running is activate the diaphragm valve solenoid. Compressor relay pulldown is switched direct from ECU via signal from pressure switch.

Hi dogsbody
A 2nd pair of eyes would be very helpful and I can make a great cut of tea or coffee PM me if you like.
All the best
Shaun.

Hi all just to start with a very big thanks to dogsbody
"The dash cleaner worked spot on 5 mins and all done Brill thanks mate and thanks for coming round"

I think i will have to bite the bullet and get my hands on a new fuse box as good old dogsbody came round with a full set of valves and driver and its still not making the pump kick in.

But when i jump the pump at the fuse box (relay) then all good BUT the pump keeps going and gets hot so i pull the jump wire out (do not wont the new sils i put in to fell) Just have to save up and by a fuse box and keep my fingers crossed and hope that sorts it, If not when where do i go from there?

Again thanks all for your input i will not give up on her as i love the old girl lol and the wife.....

Hi all

Right an update.
I have looked at the fuse box and all ok. I have had a look at rave and found that the con on the fuse box is the brown one and the wire that i need to look at is the green one pin 1 so i checked to see if there was power coming from it (air tank empty) and nothing so i then jumped it and the pump kicked in, So fuse box ok.

I then went to the ecu and found the green wire (pin 8 ecu) and no power so jumped it and yes pump kicked in so all ok with the wireing.

So am i looking at a new ecu or something eles? The thing i can not work out is when i fill the air tank up all seems ok it gose up and down when i ask it to also when i turn the engine off and shut the drivers door the car levels it self out. But as soon as the air tank empty nothing works but nothing on the dash only the light saying car going up and one light flashing.

So where do I go from here ?????

All the best ps great site

Delay timer relay or any door or the boot micro switches/wiring will freeze the EAS and stop the pump. EAS ECU is pretty reliable, strangely for LR:rolleyes:

The only thing the ECU does to run the comp is supply power to the pull down on the compressor relay. It does that when pressure switch indicates low pressure and the thermo switch is earthed. If thermo switch is not earthed ECU will not start compressor. Check continuity from Orange wire on comp to Black wire on comp. If there is no continuity thermo switch is knackered. Under no circumstances put 12 volts to Orange wire, thermo switch will be destroyed. If switch is goosed, you have no leaks, and compressor is not going to be stressed. Peel a little insulation back from Orange wire, wrap a wire round it and insulate, connect the other end to earth. That should enable compressor until you have time to change thermo switch.

Hi peeps
Sorry just got back from warm, very warm, No HOT Egypt and only just had time to look on here.
Thanks for your reply I have before I left sent the eas ecu off to be looked at and as soon as it comes back I will find out whats going on. I will give that earthing the orange and see if the pump kicks in, But if i remember i think i tried that before. But will go thought the hole lot from the strart and see if the is somthing I have missed.
All the best

Hello all
Yes its me again.
An update on how things are going. I have gone back to the start and tested the thermo switch by earthing it and .........the pump kicked in BUT after a delay of @ 5 sec which I did not do the 1st time. So after all the things I have gone though it was down to this switch......So if you try earthing the orange wire PLEASE PLEASE wight @ 5 sec to see if the pump kicks in.

The only thing I need to know is the part number from Maplins so I can get it as they are only 5 miles down the road.

Many thanks to Datatac and Warmmer
All the best and great site and keep up the great work.
