Hi all long time on post, How are you all?

Now down to my little problem:-
I have a 1995 P38 4.6 hse with an EAS prob (sat on all 4 bump stops)
On the dash she is showing only the yellow eas light (car with up pointing arrow) but no 35mph max. The lights on the switch are only showing the one I select but keeps flashing but the car dose not rise.
I have looked at the pump and all seems good ie pumps air when i jump it with a battery, I have looked at the plug that the pump plugs into but there is no out put from the plug (no sign of electric)

The person i got the car from said that one day all was fine, He then went out to it and it was down and stayed there. The next day out he went and all ok, The 3rd day down and thats that. I have had a look though this site and can not find an answer about no air so I am hopping some one can help.

Just as i side line i have tryed to find eas reset software for a Macbook but no luck can any one point me in the right place please.

Try running the car with a door open for 10-15 mins, then shut the door, this will allow the system to fill the tank under the car before it tries to fill the bags ( Wammers or Datatek recommendation if i remember correctly ) then follow the procedure to check for knacked air springs - sounds like at least one is well knacked

Check fuse 40, 40 amp. Check relay 20 third from left furthest from you as you look over wing. If fuse ok jump pins 3 and 5 compressor should run. If it does either relay is duff or thermal switch is duff. Look at my guide for testing compressor output in "how to" section.

Have you actually tested the compressor for pressure?

Compressors not running Keith. He says no power to plug. Also says he has powered it from a battery and it runs and makes air. Told him to do the tests says he has. If he has touched Orange wire with 12 volts switch will be cooked.

Yes I saw that Tony, but he said it makes air when when he jumps it which is not the same as making pressure.

Yes, but i told him to follow "How to" he said he had. He cannot get pump to run when coupled to car if i am reading it right.

I would just like to say many thanks for all your help and please dont argu over my RR LOL.

Just an up date i have jumped 3 5 and with door open the pump kicked in left it for 10 mins then shut door and up she came and stayed there. Put her on high and up she went, Put her to norm setting and down she went. So is it the relay naff or ??

Thermal switch in the compressor has blown by the sound of it, much as Wammers said earlier. The ECU will not try to run the compressor if the thermal switch is open circuit.

How bad is it to replace and can i do it???


If you can use a soldering iron you can do it. Do a search (not a Google search) it's been covered a few times. I think the thermal trip is available from RS components. You need to test that it's faulty as Wammers said earlier to confirm that's the problem.

Just an update swopped over a relay and bingo shes up and stays up, She also gose down and back up:) i am a happy man (at the momment).

So just to say a big thanks to you all

This is starting to get me down now.

Update form last post:-
After putting a new relay in all was good, but now its stopped working so went back to the start.

Jumped 3-5 on relay pump kicked in,
So then tryed therm cut out test and have 12v from earth and thin wire when pluged in to pump.

When I jump the 3-5 at the relay and fill the tank with air the car gose up and down fine also when I was tacking the car off to its mot @ 5 miles all was good no flashing lights nothing on dash. So where to go from here. Also just as a side note the HI Low in the transfer box is now playing up but will have a look on here to see whats going on

Please help as i am lost:doh:

When you forced the pump to run did it cut out by itself?

You then said that once you had pressure in system the suspension dropped and rose when requested but did the pump switch on again?

I'm wondering if you have a problem either with your pressure switch or it's wiring. Have you checked the fuse box? Is there any sign of problems under where the relay socket is located? You could have an intermttent fault caused by a cracked connection or track in the fuse box on the low power side of the relay.

Looks like you have a duff fusebox.
