wrong gearbox oil...!?!?

found out today that i have been driving my defender for 14 days with wrong gearbox oil (75w/80 synthetic) in stead of dexronII/mobil 320 the question is have i fu.... up my gearbox now..?

Change oil immediately an then again after 100 miles. Yu might get away with it.

Any oil is better than no oil but change it anyway. So long as the gearbox is not making any rumbling sounds then it wont be a problem. What did it change gear like? Was it notchy are hard to select gears? Did the synchro seem to drag?

it changes gear fine...has a little rattle when in neutral and clutch not activated will put mobil 320 in it today...hope its fine

Probably your clutch springs rattling.

little confused this page allso says 75w/80...and the oil i drained when i changed it was brown not red as the dexron...my car is a 99`defender 110 300 tdi with reverse under 5 so it is a r380 isent it..? Land Rover oils for engines, gearboxes, differentials and transfer cases

MTF 94 for the gearbox (LR upgraded the spec, but Dexron III Ok too)

EP90 for the transfer box

I haven't read through the linked page but if you have an R380 box then Land Rover specify MTF 94, this is an updated spec' as previously they specified ATF DexronII. Any other advice is just plain wrong.
