front diff cover?

you will have to remove the whole diff to have a look..

but you cant remove diff untill youve removed halfshafts

remove halfshafts and you may find a broken one

then get a long magnetic pole and remove broken piece from inside.new halfshaft and job done if its that

i paid a fiver for my one and it reaches in both sides.got it from a local 2nd hand tool shop

yup got a good toolshop in Yeovil that does new and 2nd hand tools Does lots of ex MOD tools got a lovely brass spring balance scales. for £3 for setting the swivels up & HD magnetic pickup for a fiver.

ive replaced the o/s/f half shaft ,whole hub and disc as the other one was a mess and couldnt split it. got my drive back but ive got **** loads of play in it now and ive adjusted the wheel bearing. wots the plate on top of the hub where the brake pipes bolt on to as that does'nt fit all the way in? could it be that as i see there is a bearing in there.

Hiya piggy, that'll be the top swivel bearing pin you're talking about.

It should be inserted into the bearing and shimmed to give the correct swivel pre-load.

Sounds like you haven't got it in far enough (fnar fnar) so you need to jiggle the hub while inserting it (Oooooooh Matron !!!)

cool thanks. how do i know when ive got the right pre load?? it should be ok as it is as ive not added any shims or taken any out?

one of Busters fred tells ya, i think its with a spring balance.
