The question is why are you connecting aftermarket DRLs to the side lights? Get yourself the purpose made loom that connects both DLRs to the vehicles battery, therefore when the engine is running the DRLs are illuminated, turn off the engine and they extinguish. Simples

I have a freelander 2 and have purchased aftermarket DRLs which come with a relay and many connections. I have located and fixed the lights and where the rely is to go. The problem I have is that there are two wires each one on each side for the side lights and a width light ?. However when I've looked at the back of the head light unit it has a connector and a mass of wires. I've hunted around for a diagram of the wires, but unable to find it so I can't get these to work. Is there anyone out there that has knowledge and/or has a diagram that will help me to finish these off?. I'm not sure of anything else fuse box live, connections etc that are talked about so please if you have anything please do it in layman terms.

DRLs MUST go out when the side lights are on. This is why they tap onto the side light feed. Whenever the sides are on, the DRLs go off.
