could someone tell me what the 2nd connector on brake pedal is on a freelander 1 TD4 2005 no cruise control has it anything to do with Traction control amber light or hill decent light both amber lights are on since doing battle with brake light switch or is it just bad luck?

The brake light switch is used by the ABS module as well as doing the brake lights, so yes a bad switch will effect ABS, TC and HDC.

Did Gerry mean the second hall effect sensor fitted by the brake pedal on some cars ?? The main brake light switch has contacts for ABS and brake lights but some cars have the hall effect aswell. I'm not sure what that is for. Is it automatic only??

Andy to start with yes, But now I have the answer from nodge its the brake light switch, which Iam having a nightmare with thinking about doing the upgrade to XKB500120 with the wiring adaptor YMQ503280, aparently L/R had problems with the switch on some freelanders hence upgrade

Have just done that on a 1.8 that despite getting a new switch still had the HDC come up. New switch and loom from a spare vehicle solved it. There is a thread on it.
