just been talking to an mot tester he reckons hes seen 3 gaylanders since xmas that where write ofs at 1st mot all had been used for towing all had split or cracked chassis beyond repair:eek:
big loss to the owner whos best hope to recoup some money selling it fer parts
dont see that on defenders or series:D

yeah true if there wax oiled once a year there very good but there is alot of freelanders on the road so if there bad why do people buy them and still keep them

OK SO... A freelander of a certain age, whose problems have been addressed is as good a vehicle as any other landrover. Each landie is a tool for a job, and this is no exception, except that it attracts a little land rover owner snobbery from time to time?

the snobbery is ryder, the fact that its embarrasing the fact a freelander wears the same badge as the rest of the landrover range, its like the baby road version consisting of components that have only been desinged for a-b travel, under engineered parts, **** petrol engines that to answer you question about buying one with probs sorted is that the main down fall being the heads will need constant repair, once there gone then the problem will return at some point regardless of it being a proper job, along with replacing any other components that have been made to the same spec as the one that broke origionally so yet again it will have to be replaced. dont get me wrong am not saying the rest of the range dont break, we all have our fair share of problems, just that ours our upto the job landrover intented them to be when the company was in the early stages. in my opinion its a totally different car, its like when x type owners claim they drive a jaguar????

I hate to say this but if you are thinking about getting a freelander you are better off sticking with yer slitty.

Ah... I see now. Well its always good to spark a good debate. No freelander for me then. Actually went to look at a defender yesterday... might have to wait for next payday though.

Freelander the embarrassing uncle in the Land Rover family.

Cheers
